Helios: Cerberus Group, Book 2

Another home run
Another home run from Mr. Robinson. Helios is a great follow up to Herculean. This book has plenty of action and more great moments from Robinson’s colorful cast of characters.A while back Robinson said that the last books in the Continuum, Cerberus Group, and Chess Team lines would be sort of a combined ending to the universe of the Chess Team stories. So, while Helios is the last Cerberus Group novel it isn’t quite the end of the story and it has gotten me really excited to see the end of this story. Helios tells a self-contained story but it will still have significant impact on the wider world of the Chess Team universe and long-time fans are going to recognize a lot of old elements that are making a return.Helios brings together elements from the Chess Team books Threshold and Empire, as well as the Continuum novella Centurion and the callsign king novella Blackout, and combines them all into a new tale of apocalyptic danger and intrigue. With Helios, Robinson is finally shining some light onto mysteries that were only hinted at all of the way back in the third Chess Team book, and taking a deep look at the history and mythology of the Chess Team universe. Robinson once again create a bold new twist on some very old myths, and sends Peirce and the others on one of their most incredible adventures yet. Robinson has also managed to create yet another set of new and imaginative monsters to add to his ever-growing menagerie of unusual critters. In summary, I loved this book. Once I started reading, I finished it in a single day, and I am eagerly anticipating the next Chess Team book to see how this whole adventure comes to an end.

Good but not as good as some of his others
A complex action adventure. Good but not as good as some of his others. There are some parts that dive into non relevant info which is a bit different for JR, his books are typically very tightly written and every page has vital info. That said this is still better than many other books I have attempted to read.

Do you Love Action and Adventure?
This is the author for you. Great stories, fast action and adventure, and characters that will have you rooting for their victory from the first chapters. Cannot go wrong getting this book or any of the books this author creates. I like to share books to my local library to expose the authors to others. I regret giving these up and repurchased every book in the series so I can have them to ready again and again, whenever I want.

The Ark!
During JR High school, I say the Indiana Jones movies and was hooked on historical/mythology myths. So the Ark of the covenant is one of those myths that combines religion and magic. Here the impossible is made real and the Cerberus Group is right in the middle of the action.

Review of Helios
One of the best books I've ever read. Could not put it down. It's very difficult to read books like this because there are so few a d you never know when another one will come along. Glad there swill be a continuation of the Cerberus Group but sad to see Jack Sigler go. He is one of my favorite characters along with the chess team

Another good read from Jeremy.
Good read but not his best. Seems to be lacking better action compared to his other books and way, way too long in the tooth with biblical and mythical references and conspiracies. Almost felt like I was in church at times which is really lame. Regardless, I will always buy Jeremy's books immediately. He is a fantastic author. Looking forward to his next one: Forbidden Island.

Helios
Helios was a great final(?) entry in the Cerberus Group series. It nods fondly to a great adventure flick without feeling like a ripoff of it, with original characters in several crazy situations at once, more than once. If you like the Chess Team thrillers by Robinson, you'll enjoy book 2 of this mini-series. Check it out!

Not Robinsons best work...
But in case you ran out of dynamic authors, it was a good Robinson read! The first book of this series is a definite must read!!

Didn't want to put it down
Nothing like a good dose of literary excellence. The Cerberus novels are well fleshed and an enjoyment to read.
