The EZ 101 is a portable propane powered tankless water heater that allows for quick and easy hot water anywhere. With its ability to heat a continuous water flow, RV and camp site users rave about the ability to take shower, after shower, after shower. No longer will RVers be plagued by the short shower times permitted when using a small tank type water heater. Featuring easy to use dials on the front of the heater, most users can have the unit up and running in less than 15 minutes. This unit is designed for outdoor installations, but if installed indoors, it must be installed in a room containing at least 2000 Cubic Feet of combustion air. When installed outdoors a vent pipe is not needed nor required unless otherwise specified by local codes.

Not enough heat. Overpriced.
Bought this to build a horse washing cart. I chose this over the other brands of 1.6 GPM units because it had more BTUs than the others, had better reviews and thought it would perform better. They are also one of the few brands that have a website with a tech support number. The first surprise was that I had to buy my own propane regulator because it didn't come with one, however, it did come with an absolutely worthless plastic shower head that I didn't use because we used a regular garden hose with a multi-position nozzle.Once I got it together, the highest temperature I could get our 52° well water up to was 85° and that was in the "winter" position (all 3 burners), flame control at max. and the flow dial at less than half the maximum flow rate. This wasn't near enough "oomph" to rinse a horse, let alone long-haired dogs. Their next largest model was $325 so I bought another brand with much more capacity for only $5 more and it works great. Go figure.

It was a tough fight, Ma... but I won
I have an off-grid cabin in northern Vermont and has installed an Excel water heater in 2003. When It gave out this year, I looked to replace it and after a lot of research, decided on the EZ 101. I arrived at the cabin and hooked up the plumbing, but left the propane connection to the gas company. Glad I did! After connecting and testing everything, we turned on the water and.... nothing! On demand hot water heaters are supposed to work by detecting a pressure drop in the water when you turn on the faucet and turning on the gas and applying spark. I heard the spark, but no flame.Called the support line and... an actual knowledgeable person answered. (for those who have tried calling computer or telecommunications companies, this is a rare treat). Fast forward... after three calls, EZ-Tankless said it was a gas problem, the gas guy said it was a problem with the heater and finally left. Totally distraught, I decided to tinker on my own, since the cover was already off the heater (no, they don't void your warranty if you open it up.) I simply wiggled a couple connectors and one of them must have come slightly apart during shipping. The darn thing started up and continued to work. I took a long, very hot shower that felt great. It continues to work well.PRO's- This unit has three, not two dials: Flame adjustment, Water flow adjustment and Winter/Spring/Summer. The third is rather unique.. it turns on one, two or three jets. The Excel was totally lacking this and I like this feature A LOT.- Price: $144, INCLUDING SHIPPING- Support: This unit undoubtedly comes from China, but the support team is in Indiana and they actually know their product... and they answer their phones!!!- Documentation: Chinese manuals are notoriously poorly written, but this one wasn't bad aside from the silly cartoonsCONS- Obviously, the fact that it didn't fire up right away was a big one. You might think that they should do 100% QC in Indiana before shipping, but this is a $144 product. Come to think of it, if they did 100% QC and charged $169, it would still be lower than the competition and I would have saved $90 in extra charges from the propane companyBOTTOM LINE: It's a bit early for a final opinion, but it does do what it is advertised to and you can 't beat the price. Please note that what it is advertised to do is to provide 1.6 gallons per minute of hot water, depending on the temperature of the incoming water. If you have two bathrooms and a dishwasher, buy a bigger unit. If you can't mount it outside, get another model. If you have one bathroom and a kitchen sink as I do, it should be perfect.UPDATE: IMPORTANT FOR ALL ON-DEMAND WATER HEATER OWNERSI recently experienced the same problem on the EZ101 that I experienced on the Excel heater: I use a shower with a mixer valve and if the water was too hot and I added cold water, the hot water would go out entirely. One day the water flow dropped entirely in the shower and I opened up the shower head for cleaning and noticed that the shower head was a water-saving head and had a very tiny hole to let water through. Since the on-demand heaters come on when they detect a certain water flow, it occurred to me that there is even less flow through the water heater when you mix in cold (less hot water is used). I drilled out the hole to about 1/8 inch and Voila! Problem solved.

Excellent water heater, excellent value
I installed this unit in a travel trailer. It is actually a replacement to my first unit which lasted 4 or 5 years with daily use, and I only replaced the batteries once. Given how brutal the quality of water can be, I was surprised the first unit lasted as long as it did. The water flow and temperature stays constant, so no surprises in the shower. Not one hint of a water leak from the unit. I'll be purchasing another unit to have on hand when this one stops working. Once you have the unit installed, to replace takes less than an hour. Given the price of many water heaters, the price of this one is a bargain. I'm impressed with this water heater!I feel the need to add to my review of this water heater. After 2 months of use, the darn thing started spraying water from the bottom. Needless to say, I don't use the water heater anymore. Really wish it had worked as well as the first unit did. Oh well, shopping for another water heater.

VERY low volume of hot water from these. Damn shame they don't make a RV model-- BUT I DID from their heater!!!
I am the King of ADAPT! I took this heater, bought one for a shop bathroom, works OK, but is drizzle level of out put heating water from 52 degrees to 110. Under 100 degrees it will put out 1.2 gpm, over 110 degrees, good luck not drying off as fast as its making water.HOWEVER, the second one I bought has been upgraded!! to a level of totally unrecognizable. It now is 8" shorter, has components compressed and side mounted to fill the space of a 6 gallon hot water heater in a RV. The burner and heat exchanger is still in the upper half as designed by the maker, just the controls, and all the pre tubing is moved. They could do this and crush the high dollar RV water heater sellers, shame they don't.Now in a All stainless steel enclosure, and done for under $50 so I have a unlimited supply of hot water in a travel trailer for under $200. Best part is , the water for the hot water ONLY is pulled from the 74 gallon tanks in the trailer, it is 65 to 70 degree water so the results are 118 degree hot water at full flow! The refill is on a float so at 18 Gallons the tank gets topped off from the park or RV space supply. Again, Absolute pity EZ 101 makers are missing this millions of sales by not making one to fit in a RV!
