Just enough to succeed
I pushed this product past it's intended use, which I assume is decorative edge reinforcement on small boxes with soft wood. I used it on a much larger frame with very dense wood. I drilled out the end holes and used small deck screws. I expected these brackets to split from the drilling, or to deform under the increased stress of the larger screws. But it handled both fine and has done a fine job of stabilizing my corners.
