Sturdy ball head
Works like a charm when it holds my heavy camera.

First one was perfect. But then they changed the ball finish, so the new ones creep.
I ordered one of these Cavix H-29S heads to test for a multi-camera setup, and it was perfect.- It had a matte finish on the ball, which gripped the plastic liner in the head body extremely well. This made it possible to securely clamp the ball with very little force on the clamping handle. Once locked, the position didn't creep at all. In addition to this, I liked the low profile of the head.- I was going to buy a LOT more of these, but not all at once. The reason I was not going to buy a lot more at once is because, sometimes, a product will change between when I buy an evaluation unit and when I am ready to order more of the same item. That is what happened with this product.- Unfortunately, this product was CHANGED. The second unit of this head has what appears to be a semi-gloss chrome spatter finish on the ball, which is slick to the touch. This does NOT grip very well against the plastic liner in the head body, and more force on the clamping knob is needed to lock it in place. But even when it is locked with more force on the ball clamp handle, the position will CREEP even with relatively light loads (sometimes less than 2 kg) on the head. Creep is not acceptable for my applications, which include astrophotography. By definition, the load is off-center on a ball head when the camera is pointed up in the sky. The first Cavix H-29S head worked great for this. The second one, not so much.- The ball on both versions appears to be 25mm instead of 29mm, even both are model H-29S. The first one says H-29 right on the head. The second one does not have a model number on the head, but its box says it has a 22 lb capacity, which is consistent with the specs for model H29. Both were bought from the same Amazon product page, and the top of the page says "Purchased 2 times." So the product changed.- I might get one more of these heads for general use, but getting a lot of them is now out of the question because of the change in the ball finish that results in creep.- Compared to the new version of the Cavix head, a tiny head (with only an 18mm ball) that was made by Leaplumin could support the same weight with no creep. I was going to order a lot of that other head, but it became unavailable.- It would be nice if a manufacturer could leave well enough alone when they have a good product (like the original version of this Cavix H-29S head was), instead of changing it to have an inferior ball finish that creeps. It would also be nice if other good products (like the Leaplumin head) would stay on the market for a reasonable length of time.

Well made.
I added the second to the smallest size to a back pack Tripod. It is a bit heavy but the quality is so good I’m happy to keep it.

Great value, so far good holding power
I've bought a few of these for various things, and I've had nothing but good experiences with them. If you're looking for a compact, low profile ball-head without spending loads of $ This might be worth I try, I know I'm glad I found it
