Total success. I got this today and installed it this afternoon. You need to understand that it needs a small modification to work perfect. You must shorten the cable housing 3/4” to 1”. Many reviewers said the cable is too short. Not so. One of my photos shows the spring position you need to achieve. Put it all together, then grind off the cable housing with a Dremel to achieve the proper spring tension.

Part worked great. After 12 hours of working on the car I was finally able to get it working. Most of that is because of the poor engineering of the VW bugs. They may be fun to drive but a nightmare to work on.Updated, After just 3 months, the plastic connector snapped due to very poor manufacturing and design. I will order a second just in case it was a defect but I don't think so. I suspect the problem is due to the cable being way too small causing way too much stress on the plastic breaking it prematurely.

These did not fit without minor modification of the cable sleeve. The first one failed after a month. They sent me a new one that I had to modify again but it is working. Crossing my fingers that it doesn’t fail.

The longer of the 2 cables is too short, which I have found to be typical of after-market repair kits. Since you cannot lengthen the cable, you must shorten the cable housing by 1 1/2 inches for it to fit properly. Not a good design.

Buyer beware! The cable in this kit is too short. The extreme tension provides no give to the springs which will cause premature failure to the plastic parts. You'll be be starting from square on me on this pain of a repair job. There is a fix on YouTube by cutting the cable shield down by 3/4 inch.

This part is too short. You have to trim the housing to even get it to fit and still it’s a piece of junk that you will waste over four hours trying to install. After all of the hassle, install it and it breaks. Tried the second one. Same thing.

The cable in Autopa kit seemed a little too short and was extremely tight when installed. There is a video on Youtube of someone installing a regulator repair kit manufactured by someone else, and the one in the video appeared to fit well.

This product doesn’t even come close to fitting to make window work. It’s a nightmare! This auto shop won’t buy another. Will go directly to VW and pay up! Sorry I wasted time and money! DONT BUY!
