The Unholy Four was originally titled Ciak Mull, L'Uomo Della Vendetta. It's one of those spaghetti westerns in which the heroes and heavies are virtually indistinguishable. Though the outlaw leader (played by George Eastman credited by his birth name Luigi Montefiore) is evil incarnate, he isn't much worse than the four mercenaries hunting him down. Stalwart John Ford-regular Woody Strode is given plenty of screen time, and he makes the most of it. Director Enzo Barboni was billed as "E. B. Clucher" in the American prints.

Another home run for Kino Lorber.
In the last 12 months i have added BLINDMAN, REQUIESCANT, FACE TO FACE & DAY OF ANGER to my western collection. After so many years of neglect I am glad to see some studios taking the Italian/Euro western genre to top quality release status for fans like myself. THE UNHOLY FOUR looks great here in Blu-Ray. The night scenes seem to be imbued with a touch of Mario Bava gel lighting style and director Enzo Barboni kind of mimics older directors like Sidney J Furie or maybe Hitchcock with some neat gimmicky camera work throughout. The extreme close-up shots of rifles and revolvers going thru their mechanical motions during an ambush seem to make the action that much more intense. UNHOLY also has one of the best saloon brawls of any western I've ever seen, complete with a kind of Jackie Chan vibe to the proceedings. Woody Strode is the American ringer in this spagwest and tho he only speaks about ten words (not counting the church choir audition) he has great presence here. As for the audio...Italian with English subs or English dubbing. Both good. Take your pick. On the downside, I didn't care overmuch for the musical score as it seems to be styled after Hollywood movies instead of what you might expect from a spaghetti western. Not terrible but no Ennio Morricone either. Also, the only bonus materials on tap were trailers from 2 (excellent) examples of the genre, NAVAJO JOE and SABATA. Bottom line here is that this movie isn't in A FISTFULL OF DOLLARS league but it does have well filmed action scenes, a high body count and some attractive females. I also appreciate studios that produce a quality product worth purchasing & that's why I give this film 5 stars. Soooo..If you & your friends are tired of watching THE SEARCHERS on TCM for the 100th time, give this movie a shot. Your guests will appreciate it.Some Blu macaroni combat in the future would be sweet as well.

Double Italian Action
One of the better package deals from Wild East, The Forgotten Pistolero and The Unholy Four - two good solid spaghetti westerns that deliver all the goods - plenty of gunplay, good plots, music scores, stunning cinematography of the Madrid, and most of all, Italian action at it's finest. Both films run from eighty to ninety minutes each, all on one disc, these Wild East transfers are surprisingly good with full screen and widescreen optional. The Forgotten Pistolero is a story of a desperado who seeks out his childhood friend to help solve a murder from the past and to resolve a revenge that has been long awaited for all those involved. The Unholy Four - a man called "Chuck Mul" suffers from amnesia. Mul escapes from an insane asylum, trying to remember, regain his identity, and his forgotten tormented past. An investigation is made to find out who the real culprits are involved in a strange conspiracy, setting off the fireworks in the end, one of the finest staged gunfights ever captured on film. starring Woody Strode, Leonard Mann, and Peter Martell.

Above average Euro-Films
It really bothers me when a reviewer that that does not know what they are talking about gives a bad review to a dvd that deserves better and anyone that is a true spaghetti western fan would appreciate them. These two films are both top notch efforts ,I have a extensive collection of spaghetti westerns and collect all of the Wild East ones I can get my hands on ,they clean up these films and usually put two films that have a common factor on each release. The films here are above average ,I have viewed both multiple times, they are well paced, well acted and have excellent scores ,the theme for The Forgotten Pistolero stands out,its beautifully done score is by Roberto Pregadio that has a very Morricone style and is his best work, it stands in the top ten of spaghettii western themes.Disregard the bad reviews these are great films.

Good one from Wild East.
I liked Unholy Four more (now available on Blu-Ray) but both films are good with fairly good transfers.

The movies were both good, they belong to the better ones in the spaghetti western genre. In my opinion, the Forgotten Pistolero was better than the Unholy 4 with a nice story and interesting actors. What annoyed me most, though, was the relatively poor quality of the films.
