Nice and small
While I did have a DVD drive in my new computer, it was sideways and hard to load. So I used this DVD player. IT wasn't the worlds best one, I don't use it very often. I does work pretty good.

This product has frustrated me
This product was maddening. Such a simple device, but just didn't work when I went to use it. CD would load, I could hear it spin but nothing would pop up on my MacBook Pro. I messed around with it, restarting my iTunes, restarting my computer, unplugging and plugging back in all that regular stuff but nothing. I was super busy and it was fairly inexpensive so I tossed it in a drawer on my desk. Then my wife tried it for me right after Christmas and got it going no problem, great! Problem solved right? She burned 2-3 CDs, set it saide, then we tried again a few hours later and nothing. Huh? Then I tried it a while later and got 2-3 more CDs to burn onto my iTunes, great! Then all of the sudden, nothing again. I've now tried it 4-5 different times in the last few days and nothing. It's still trying to load but not working, it's annoying and frustrating as heck. I suppose I'll return it and get a new one but it's almost not worth the time, again, frustrating. I'm assuming it's just defective so I might buy a new one of the same thing but again, frustrating. Apparently frustrating enough that I'm writing my first review. Thanks for reading, this product is frustrating.

It can get loud, but it's good for the money for a working one.
Edit: I forgot to mention that it needs Two ports to even make it work which could be a reason not to get it. I don't like that it takes two ports, but it still works. So the first drive I got from this company didn't work. I plugged it in and the drive was found almost immediately, but when I put in a disc and tried to run it, it opened the tray and said to insert disc. I tried all the methods the internet told me about about and it still didn't work. I proceeded to chat with an amazon employee to maybe get another one to replace or a refund and they decided to send me another one and for me to send the first one back. My second one works perfectly fine. It can get loud sometimes, and if the DVD player is not on a flat surface, the disc tray will not close easily. So I recommend if you are going to buy this product and it doesn't work, it may just be the one they sent to you and you should try to get a replacement.

Works on a 2010 Macbook Pro
The biggest problem I have recently experienced with having an old computer is finding a CD drive to work with this old computer. The internal drive either no longer worked or they disabled it so it does not read audio CDs hence the need to find something in order to complete the task.I tried an Apple super drive external CD reader/writer and that was not recognized by computer, that is ironic because these are both Apple products, although believable because my computer so old. I ended finding this unit on Amazon and decided to give it shot. The unit showed up the next day in the standard brown box, I did not read the directions and that caused a minor delay in getting this unit operational. There will be 2 USB cables, one will plug into the computer and the other must plug into an electrical source and that cannot be your computer. Also worth noting, your computer will not see this unit until you insert a CD into the drive. Once you do that the magic begins.I was able to copy 136 songs off a variety CDs and that landed in my apple music / itunes account. Then those songs were uploaded into my phone without issue. It is without a doubt this little drive was worth the money and I highly recommend this unit for older computer owners who are having a tough time finding a CD drive that will work on their system.

good product, doesn’t work for me now.
I bought this back in 2022. I used it a couple times and it worked perfectly, stored it away properly (making sure to not put anything on top of it) and i tried to use it recently but it does not work. The little green light that indicates it’s on blinks for a little bit and then it turns off, not sure what i am doing wrong. I thought it might’ve been because i was trying to use it with Windows 11 instead of 10 but it doesn’t work with any device i try now :(

Works great just want I needed.
I Purchased this because I’ve found some CDs with family photos on them and nowadays, computers and laptops do not have a CD drive. This was easy to use. I just plugged it into the back of my computer pop to CD in and it read it just like if your computer has a CD drive. I found old movies of my kids and old pictures when they were younger. I’m so glad I found this adapter so we could enjoy them.
