The sound is very nice

i purchased this as a gift for a toddlerunlike the standard 25-key glockenspiel layout which starts on G, this instrument has 23-keys starting on C. the standard range results in black keys appearing in groups of 2-2-3-2-1, while on this instrument groupings become a sensical 2-3-2-3. i imagine octave equivalency will be more quickly picked up by a child playing on this layout. however, i really wish this instrument had two more keys in the upper end. this would complete a 2-octave range without messing up the black key layout.quality/quality control is alright for price. the wood of the soundbox is solid and polished, although my unit arrived with a knick on one edge. the coating of the metal of the keys feels like it will last, but doesn't appear very uniformly applied. two sets of mallets are provided, but look pretty cheap. none of the negative things mentioned affect the sound quality, which is excellent. keys are also uniform width and in tune.

My granddaughter loves it and plays with it a lot.

Ohh, my goodness...the sound is so soothing. We actually bought this to add on our toddler's busy board. Once that's ready I will do an update, to let you know how she liked it.

I thought the bars were wood and when I found they were metal I was going to return it...BUT...then I played it. It sounds fabulous, and I decided to keep it because, yes...it sounds that good. Get one. You'll love it.

For the price in the quality of this unit, it's amazing. my 8 year old son is just in love with this thing.
