Good boot so far - UPDATE - and final update
Read the reviews before I bought these so I ordered a half size larger. They were too big. Sent them back and ordered my actual size and they fit like a glove. I don't wear super thick socks though. I work 12 hour shifts as a air Ambulance pilot so I have these on alot. They were comfortable from the first time I had them on, no break in really. The side zippers were a little stiff but work good. These aren't vented and the nylon on the side is fairly thick and padded so they might get warm in the summer. Soles have good grip (even with jet fuel on them) but aren't too knobby like some other tactical boots. I haven't noticed any separation between the rubber sole and the the leather upper. Overall, I like them so far.UPDATE - I've got a month and a half wearing these. I was right they are hot. They continually squeak when you walk. I thought I'd would stop after awhile but it hasn't. The toe stitching of the right boot has started to pull-out. See photos. The pull loop (used to help get them on) on the left boot broke-off.FINAL UPDATE - Retired these today after almost two years. The last four photos are of the final condition. Velcro on the zipper cover wore out several months ago but didn’t become a problem. The squeak never stopped! Generally, they held up fairly well but I’m not replacing them.

Great boots for the price.
*Note- I normally wear New Balance shoes in 9.5 4E. I bought the 10." Wide boots.I had spent a couple of months looking for a pair of boots with a side zipper when I found these. Compared to the pair of Bates boots that I tried at Sears- these are a far better buy. They don't leak nearly as much- but mainly for rainy weather- your not going to be wading in these. The zippers are YKK types- much stronger than the flimsy cheap zippers on the Bates. In terms of fit- 10 was unavailable and these are not available in 9.5 4E. I wound up getting 10 2Es- and they fit perfectly, so I'd say they run a bit smaller than New Balance. I have rather flat feet- and the insoles are perfectly fine for me. They will take a bit to fully break in, but so far I've never felt better when standing for long periods. The toe is reinforced- these aren't steel-toed. The soles have rather aggressive treads- so make sure to knock the mud off. The zippers are really handy for taking the boots off without having to deal with the laces after a long day. For the price this is a great deal, as the Bates go for 120$.These are manufactured in Vietnam.Highly recommend this pair of boots if your looking for a pair of boots with a tall ankle cuff+ side zipper.3 Year update-It's now well into 2019 and I still have this pair and the smaller version. I did have to get them both re-heeled at a cobbler's as the lining on the cuffs began to shred apart and clump up about 2 years in. The insole top liner glue was also starting to lose tack and the liner was coming off. The trip to the cobbler's probably increased the boot's lifespan quite a bit for ~ $50 for the pair (I got a late delivery discount). The soles still have excellent tread and no leaks anywhere else on the boots whatsoever. Both zippers are still working like a charm and I am still using the same laces that came with the boots. One downside that I don't think can be fixed- and as others have also stated in their reviews as well is the finish on the toe section of the boots. I believe it's some kind of thin rubberized vinyl that is heat-shrunk or glued to the toe itself. I haven't kicked rocks or dragged them across asphalt, but small sections of the finish are flecking off. Not at an aggressive rate, but after a while it will look pretty ugly. The stitching on the front section of the heel that curls up to meet the toe has also come out, though the heel is not coming off and there is no gap anywhere in the front toe section. I will hazard a guess and say this stitching is not structural.Overall still pleased with my purchase- best pair of general everyday wear I ever bought.

Great looking and fitting boot
I work as a security guard and am on constant foot patrols all day dealing with the occasional aggressive subject. First off: Great looking and fitting boot. Very comfortable to wear. My big problem came when I had an altercation where I had to go to the ground with an individual. The finish on the toes of these boots just wore away like paper. The coating (or whatever it is) over the leather is like pudding skin. The Marine in me likes my uniform items to present a professional appearance as well as be useful, and these boots are (I'd like to reiterate) very solid and comfy, however the durability of the finish (which cannot be polished into any sort of repair) is not really good for maintaining serviceable looks. Not great in the unfortunate event of a hands on situation.

Terrible quality, expect 1-2 months of wear.
The insides of these boots started falling apart almost instantly. I was very happy for the first week or two, and felt they would work well, but started noticing the insides rubbing and falling apart the first month. I've worn multiple boots like this for almost half the price, that have lasted about a year each.I am very disappointed that these have not even lasted for more than two months of regular wear. Keep in mind, I work at a computer desk, don't use these for hiking, or anything else, these are simply used for getting around. I expected this to last much longer than 2 months.I've attached a few photos to show the condition they are in on the outside, to demonstrate how well I've kept them, as well as a few shots of the inside, where you can see that some of the lining has completely rubbed off after only a few uses.

Horrible Shoe
I’ve had a similar pair of shoes I purchased from Rackroom over a year ago that are still in amazing condition. These shoes purchased 4 months ago, already have threads coming out at the seams and the cheap coating is peeling. Both shoes were put through the same environments, and it’s just ridiculous at the cost I paid for these shoes that they haven’t held up at all. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Fell apart
Boots were comfortable but literally fell apart after 6 months use at two days a week. I emailed S&W about the issue and received no response.

Husband loves them!
I bought these for my husband who is an EMS dispatcher and EMT. At first he was upset that I had ordered them online, until he wore them for the first time. He's now been wearing them every day for 3 weeks with no complaints! That's pretty good for the price. He also loves the ease of the zipper, he was worried they wouldn't stay up but so far they have. I would definitely recommend these and will be buying him a backup pair soon.

Worst pair of boots I have ever purchased. DO NOT buy this product!
This product is as inferior a product as you can purchase. Going on name brand recognition you would think the company would make a product that would last more than half a year. This does not. I live in a moderate climate in Canada. Our winter was one of the mildest. This boot ended up with cracks in it that made the boot no longer wearable or functional. I have had military and para-military grade "tactical boots" before this is the worst boot of any kind I have purchased. I had read reviews and even YouTube videos on this boot. I am very disappointed. I will never ever purchase anything from this manufacturer in the future. Considering their reputation in the firearms industry, it makes you wonder. Take heed. Buy another brand.

Not like the old ones
I am a bit dissapointed in these, the last pair had waterproofing all along the inside of the zippers, these don't have any so will not be as waterproof as my old pair. Just as comfortable though for that I give 3 stars

Comfort and agility.
These boots are like sneakers and slippers had a baby. They're super comfortable and very durable. This definitely won't be the last pair of Smith & Wesson boots that I buy.
