Short Stories
Ernest Hemingway was once challenged in a bar to write a story in only six words, a novel that would tell the whole story, and he wrote, "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." I came across the Six-Word Memoirs project after reading an article in SMITH Magazine about a contest requesting that people submit a six-word stories about themselves or their lives, which became the inspiration for the book Not Quite What I Was Planning, Revised and Expanded Deluxe Edition: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure , after Ernest Hemingway's six-word memoir.Six-Word Memoirs on Love and Heartbreak: by Writers Famous and Obscure are personal accounts about the highs and low of love and romance, which are not mutually exclusive. I found all of the stories to be beautiful, heartbreaking and truthful in their simplicity. The impact that six small words carry in its message to the reader is uplifting or can impart a small opportunity to commiserate with a kindred spirit who's traveled the weary road of lost loves. In my search to find a book that reminded me about the importance of Love in one's life, I stumbled across this one just before Valentine's Day. Here is my own six-word memoir on love and heartbreak, immortalized forever on Amazon.com, "The journey is in the chance."

New format for beloved genre
I am always a sucker for a great title and/or a creative idea, and these are indeed creative memoirs. I can't say I loved any of them, but it is hard to convey anything in six words, so for that accomplishment I give 4 stars. I'm a preacher, and a short sermon takes a lot more work than a long one, so there is a lot of hard work packed in this slim volume. I gave my copy to a friend who writes poetry, and she was fascinated.

Touching, funny, poignant, and brief!
Like the other "Six word memoirs" book, these are highly addictive, and yet extremely packed with meaning. This book focuses on one of those universal topics most filled with drama - love and romance. So, these were especially poignant and even (from time to time) harrowing.I can highly recommend this book; it's an easy read but I recommend that you read a few at a time and really think about what they mean and imply about their authors. Further, the book is highly re-readable and you are likely to have your "favorites" in the collection. Marking them out or writing them down will allow you to contemplate why they mean so much to you.

Six Words Tell Your Life Story
A writer for our local newspaper wrote an article on Six-Word Memoirs on Love and Heartbreak by Writers Famous and Obscure. I was intrigued and bought my copy from Amazon.com. I wrote some six-word memoirs about some of my experiences with love and hearbreak. I asked members, who belong to our antique car club, to try writing some memoirs of their own. I gave them plenty of examples ahead of time. We will be meeting on February 14th at a restaurant to celebrate Valentine's Day. Couples who attend will be asked to share their memoirs with the rest of us. With the great variety of personalities submitting their memoirs, it should be a hoot. Lots of good fun.

Six-Word Memoirs on Love and Heartbreak
This book, Six-Word Memoirs on Love and Heartbreak: by...Larry Smith was not what I expected; perhaps a younger, more hip person would have related to it better. I did enjoy it enough to give it 4 *. I was expecting more quaint, quirky, original ways to say "I love you".

Would have been better if I'd read this one at nineteen
This book would have been a favorite had I read it at nineteen instead of fifty-two; love and romance just doesn't have the zing it once did for me. I can't seem to get the pain of heartbreak any more. Is it my age?I found the first book, little six-word tales of a life, much more clever.Still, it's always fun to read such tiny stories.

A disappointment
I really wanted to like the volumes in the "six word memoir" series, but....Although this one isn't quite as bad as the teen edition ("I Can't Keep My Own Secrets"), it's still pretty bad.Fortunately, it's a quick read, and the design of the book is good.A "memoir" is normally considered to be a remembrance that's communicated to others because it's interesting. However, the contents of this volume is better described as a terse litany of regrets, or compact versions of the worst thing that ever happened to a person. Some are actually quite disturbing, made even more so by the lack of context. Many of the "memoirs" are written in third person -- not first -- making them seem more about other people than about the author. In fact, rather than "six word memoirs", most of the contributions could more accurately be characterized as "six word confessions", "six word advice", "six word mottoes", or "six word epitaphs".

Short, however good food for thought
I really enjoyed this book. It is amazing how a subject so big could be described with just a few words. It is a short book and I would have liked it to have more content. However still please it exists.
