Great Value
I have never made a pipe before but being stuck at home unable to do larger projects i was looking for something to pass the time. These are really great, and lots of fun to work with. Most are pre drilled so thats a big pluse as that can be interesting. I got aa nice selection but mostly bents which was perfect for me as i prefer them anyway. Not sure what the woods are i suspect olive or strawberry, i cant say i have found a briar yet but maybe they are. Hand tools work fine a vice is a must.

Happy overall, but missing 2 pieces.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the rough cut pipes I received. They obviously have a few cosmetic issues, but nothing to major. I'm new to pipe making, and I'm hoping these will be a helpful head start to making the entire project. The only negative I have is that instead of the advertised amount of 10, there only 8. So dispite 2 missing, I'm still happy with the purchase.

You need a little wood working experience
My assortment looks almost identical to the product description, so five stars for Mr. Brog. I read all the reviews, so I had an idea of what to expect. All look like pear wood. Only a couple have a connecting air hole between the bowl and tenon hole (where the stem fits in). A few of the bent varieties may have an angle that is too steep to drill a hole between the two... trying to figure out how to solve that. The largest, which is a bent variety, has enough wood left below to create a whole new straight stem underneath... saving that for last. A couple just need to be sanded and stained. Some minor cosmetic flaws/cuts/tool marks here and there, those can be worked with.As far as stems go, be prepared to get out some calipers and go down a rabbit hole. A real pipe artisan can make a stem from scratch from a rod of raw material. For the rest of us, a few available on Amazon (and some pipe shops) will fit closely but require a little adjustment. I just discovered that the ferrule (little decorative band thingy) on my Missouri Meerschaum corncobs fits near perfectly on three of these. Unfortunately, the Missouri's tenon is a little larger in diameter, but I can just sand/drill out the draw hole a bit to fit. Anyway, read all the reviews, set your expectations accordingly, and you'll be happy with this purchase, if you are a crafty person.

Great for Noobs
This is a great set of noobs to experiment with and get introduced to pipe making. I started out with this set and I’m quite grateful I did because, I was able to fine tune my skills without ruining a quality block of briar. All of the ones I received were of variable shapes and sizes. Each one was bored and I didn’t have to redrill any of them. I bought stems from eBay and a couple from Amazon. If you’re going to use remade stems, I’d recommend buying the stems at the same time as these bowls. It’ll be easier to figure out how best to fit them both to one another.

Mostly partially drilled blocks . Not unfinished as pictured .
Ordered two of these packages last and they were great . Only needed some sanding and finishing . The last one i received , were only partially drilled blocks that require tools i don't have , not unfinished bowls as pictured . Don't know if i would order them again ?

Pretty decent but..
Received on time. Variety is ok besides getting 0 straights. Most of them seem to be workable repairable besides 2 of them that have pretty serious cracks in the bowls. I’m sure the 2 with the cracks could be repaired somehow but I’m not really into repairing cracked bowls in my opinion those 2 are firewood. All pieces appear to be pear wood. If there would have been at least 1 straight and no cracked bowls this would have been a 5 star.

Unfinished tobacco pipes damaged/mis-cuts
Even though they are D quality they are still usable and easier than starting from just a block of wood.

First thoughts ok not good then realized only one out of the 10 will work for my 10mm stems
When I received this package was excited to card a few spare pips then I inspected what can noticed that most of the stem holes are to small for the 6 and 9 mm stems I use so will need to redrill them. Not the biggest deal not sure what kind of wood it is as of yet most are going to be usable except for one for sure the stem is broken off straight out the bag was disappointing because that bowl design I liked would not order again all the bigger bowls that I like but one are unusable to me due to the stem holes being 10.5 to 10.7 mm so my standard 10mm stems will not work will most likely return them

Took a chance
My suspect is it's pear wood. A good mix of vents and straights. Definately ok starting points. This might be fun to fix them up. Good buy
