Outstanding OWB holster. It's very comfortable in the 3:00 or 4:00 position, the only two I have tried. The SW M&P Shield 9mm fits perfectly. I bought this holster because it has that positive "snick" to let you know the gun is secure. It's exactly what I wanted and it works perfectly. I have been practicing releasing the gun and re-holstering and the release is intuitive and natural with 100% reliability. When I wear on my right hip with a sweatshirt the gun does not print at all and I want to emphasize, it is very comfortable on the hip, both walking and sitting.Cons: None. I am very critical and if there was a con I would tell you. This is truly a great product, well designed with excellent quality.About me: I am a social worker type with no military background. I am a heavy set guy and over 60 and have handled guns before and this is my first serious attempt at CCW.Edit 2021: I weighed 265 when I wrote the original review in 2017 and in 2021 I weigh 220. This is still the holster for me.+++Shield Plus - UPDATE July 2021I changed nothing from my original review of this holster. It's super comfortable OWB and while wearing a normal un-tucked T-shirt it does NOT print. It's so comfortable on the hip I forget I'm wearing it. I own an IWB holster from another brand but the Cytec is more comfortable.The Shield Plus fits into the holster exactly the same as the Shield 1.0. The Level II retention keeps the gun secure and drawing it using the index finger is intuitive and completely safe.Note regarding the one-star reviews: I read where the biggest complaint was the gun did not fit the holster. My Shield 9 v1.0 and Shield 9 Plus fit perfectly. I can't explain why theirs did not.

I was looking for a cheap but secure pistol holster for non-concealed carry for my S&W M&P Shield 2.0 .45. However, there are few holsters out there for this relatively new pistol. I bought this holster based on other reviews and the following is my impression:-Fit: I had to take a metal file along with sand paper (40 grit, and then later 120 grit to smooth it out) along the inside, especially near the bottom of the inside. Apparently the height of the .45 is slightly higher (barrel thickness no doubt) than the 9mm or .40. This made the holster really latch onto the pistol, and the front sight was scratching the inside of the holster. Once I filed it down to where the sight post doesn't scratch any more, it fits in very well! Drawing it is smooth and efficient, and the holster feels good now.-Secureness. I've moved around quite a bit with this, and the pistol has never moved, and due to the design, it's near impossible to draw this unless you unlatch it.-Cost: for the minor alterations, this is worth every penny: the only holsters I found for the 2.0 .45 were in the hundred + dollar range-something I wasn't looking forward to paying.If you're up for some minor alterations, this is a great holster if you have the M&P Shield 2.0 4.5! Otherwise, if you have the 9mm or the .40, this is an even better deal for a holster! I gave this 5 stars because it's not "meant" for the .45 Shield, but it can fit it, and is a great low-cost alternative!

Holds gun very good, had to mold it just a little

My experience with firearms until lately has been entirely with rifles/shotguns, so I was a bit naive on the subject of holsters. I made the mistake of buying a holster that said it would fit my M&P Shield from Walmart of all places. I was a bit disappointed in myself but not very surprised when my gun barely fit the holster, and was not restrained at all once in place!So, very discouraged, I began shopping around and came across this unit on amazon. The reviews were good and the price was more than what my defective one cost, but still very reasonable! I received my holster in 2 days and immediately threw the old one away.This one fits my Shield perfectly, the paddle fits the belts I wear most often, and most importantly it secures the weapon! An assailant would probably break my belt before drawing the weapon if they just grabbed at it. And lastly, the finger release is offset just enough from the guard that it makes accidental discharges a non-issue.I love the holster, it rides my belt like it was made for it, it keeps my gun very secure, and it releases safely. It is a great product and worth every penny.You guys make great work!

This is a perfect fit for my S&W Shield Plus Performance Center 4" and it's comfortable on the belt.

I recently bought this holster and was waiting to write my review until after i did some pistol training with it. The package arrived well with no damages and was please with how thick the and sturdy the hoslter feels. The botton works without any hitches and i was able to draw my Shield with ease. It stays well im place and i liked that i didn’t have to loop my belt through it and such. The only small thing with the hoslter was that it wasn’t 100% form fitted but i used a small little funiture glider in the area of the trigger and it no longer rattled when i walked or ran. I bought a fancy 2-in-1 hostler before this one and i prefer using this one because of its comfort. Its a great product and i recommend it!

The "hooks" are so big there is no clearance to get it over my thinnest of dress belts. Does no good if you can't actually use it.
