Great File Box
I really like this portable file box! It's durable, easy to carry, roomy, and stackable. I just became a graduate student and decided to try this file box to store articles for my classes and dissertation. It's currently next to my sofa under the side table but could easily fit in a closet. I did consider buying a cheap alternative at Walmart but am glad I chose this file box. The Walmart option appeared to be less durable and it didn't have a flat top which could've negated the stackability. Two thumbs up from this picky shopper.UPDATE: Still 5 stars! Bought a second file box. They stack well, look nice, and are keeping me organized with school materials :)

Stack multiple boxes, It depends on your priorities for use of this box
The box doesn't say where it is made, but I THINK it has a chance of being made in Missouri. One reviewer aptly wrote: "This works well for its intended purpose and I love that it is stack-able and has sturdy handles, but there is a tab in the middle on one side that interferes with the folders. It blocks the folders from moving through the center, which isn't a problem for me, but because there is a tab on only one side, the folders are able to move freely on the other side and they often get crooked and sometimes come off the track. It's usually fine when the box is sitting still in one spot, but it could cause problems when trying to transport it." I AGREE.Other than that, I can recommend. The lid is CLEAR, not fogged. You might not like that the lid stands upward when you are working. It doesn't fall to the side on it's hinge. But, the flatness of the lid has a helpful reason: the boxes stack together. I have another old box of a similar type made by Sterilte, but the lid isn't made so that you can stack multiple boxes. The plastic doesn't seem as sturdy as the Sterilite boxes. but, I'm not going to be lugging it around. My intention is to have them stack square and flat in my office, serving as a portable file cabinet. I'm not a legal assistant, so I can deal with moving them around enough to access files.

Great file box!
I really like the look of this file box and am glad I purchased it. Very sturdy and fits my letter-sized hanging folders easily, even with tabs on them. (So many covered file boxes had complaints that the tabs wouldn't fit with the lid on.) I would have preferred one with wheels, but couldn't find one with a lid that would fit the tabs when closed, so opted for this one with a handle for ease of movement. I'm glad I did. I haven't had it for long, but the box seems very sturdy and something that will last for a while. I also love that the hanging folders rest in the box, and not on a separate bar - those with separate bars tend to break or come loose and feel more flimsy. My only issue was that the plastic lid is not attached when delivered, and it was VERY difficult for me to get the tab to snap in - I kept waiting for the lid to crack or the tab to break off while inserting it into the hole. But it seemed to take my "abuse" well while bending it to fit, and nothing broke. I don't think I'd ever get it off again without breaking it, so make sure you really want the lid on before you put it on. And, if it makes a difference to you, the cover opens like a hinge, opening on the longer side. So if (like me) you've got letter-sized files in there, the lid will be opening sideways. Not a problem for me, but thought I'd mention it in case it is for you.

Exactly what I needed to eliminate hoards of expandable file folders
This is exactly what I needed. I had previously used several of those plastic expandable file folders, but the amount of paperwork I had stored in them was getting to be too much. I couldn't keep track of which folder had what files, and they were stuffed so full that they began to tear apart at the seams...literally. I didn't want to spend the money in a file cabinet, plus I don't have much room for one. This holds almost everything and the ability to have hanging folders makes it so much easier to find what I'm looking for. The only downside being that it doesn't fit the taller sheets of paper when placed in the direction of the hanging folders (the documents from my closing when I bought my house), but for now I just have those in a tall folder laying on top of the rest. I like the handles which make it easy to move around, and it's small enough to fit in the bottom of my closet. I may end up buying another one of these!

Great portable file cabinet.
Love these. They are large, solid and will last awhile even though they are plastic. You do have to put the lid on but that was very easy, jest flexed the size and it went right in. Heavy duty handles and the box is thick and solid. Does not have a clasp or anything like that. Lid just hinges up and down flat on the top of the box. There is no way to lock or secure it other than maybe a cable around tight with a lock. That's ok for me though as I don't need that. Will hold quite a few hanging files as well. Too big to cart around frequently but good for someone to start out their personal filling system for bills and important papers.

Needs better packaging!
I ordered this unit as a replacement for one I have owned for a long time the old unit had a failure in the corner where the dimple on the lid fits into the bin The new unit however came with the same problem due to the way it was boxed in the shipping container So I am somewhat disappointed

Simple Practical design is very useful and strong enough if you don't need to stuff it to the gills with file folders.
The other smaller portable plastic file boxes that I bought all broke, usually at the hinges. This thing doesn't really have hinges and seems sturdier partly because it is more simple Doubt if it would completely keep the rain out if you had to carry it between a car and a building in the rain. However, I love it because I can float stuff (like a check I have to remember to give somebody) on top of the file folders in order to see it and be reminded through the translucent top. They stack very nicely next to my chair, in which case the lid can be a nice work surface where I can write or organize things temporarily. They have held up well for nearly a year but I keep empty space in front of the file folders to carry miscellaneous items. If I filled all the available space with file folders it would be rather heavy to carry to meetings, which is the main reason I bought it.
