Tara Duncan and the Spellbinders (Tara Duncan, 1)

This story struggles.
Hm. The writing is difficult to follow. The author includes too little information and detail in some things and not enough in others, which makes the pace of the story sluggish. The chapters are broken up strangely as well.I understand that with the story taking place with new worlds and new ideas, there will be new language. However, I think the reader should learn this language with the main character. It seems the author tries to do this but doesn't do it well enough or thoroughly enough. Further, the characters do not progress or change much. In fact, it is difficult to truly tell the characters apart because of the lack of character development. Again, there will be many characters in this type of story, but I always think it's wise to be cautious with having too many characters. It becomes hard to differentiate between them and hard to follow the story. All in all, pick what is important and focus on it. Don't have too much information. Keep the story flowing.

Great Book
I love this book because of the adventures in this. There was a few parts that were confusing but other than that, this book is very good. I would suggest this for young children that believe in magic and love adventures. Very good book overall.

Spellbinding and Bonding
My six year old granddaughter is quite a reader already. We watch Tara Duncan on TV and it is one of her favorite characters so I decided to buy her her first grown up book (with no pictures and 470 pages no less). We are reading it together and I made her a special bookmark to leave in the page where we stop reading for the day. This is a great experience!

and my daughter loved them both
This is a very popular series in Japan, and all 11 books are published there in Japanese. As we live in Australia, she prefers to read books in English. I bought both no 1 and no 2, and my daughter loved them both. She is hoping other books will be translated into English as well!

More, please!
My daughter is crushed that only the first two books of the series have been translated into English. She's learning French, but it will be a long time before she can enjoy the originals...
