Putting a boot on CV joint
they worked as expected however I didn't know to properly clean the joint and there for cv grease would come out. I never quite got it right but I think if you clean the rubber boot and the area where the boot joins the axle where it is clean and dry then you don't need a ton of pressure to get this to be air tight.

Gets the job done!
I had to open up my CV joint boot to reposition the bearings that came out of the inner hub. I orderied this tool and some metal bands. It took about 5 days to get delivered. Once i got the tool, i went to put the boot back on the inner axle hub. I watched a couple of videos on Youtube on how to use the tool. It worked good, but you need to make sure to have long enough bands so when you insert it into the tool you'll be able to put enough tension to tighten the CV boot bands.

Tool is good
Tool works great but the bands are terrible and do not hold at all

Do not recommend this for cv axle boots
The material is decent and resembles austenitic steel(non-magnetic) for good corrosion resistance, hence the 2 stars. The bands are too thin and narrow(3/16 vs. 1/4 std) and the lengths are all too short. The longest one won't fit the larger end of the boot. I have a 2006 Outback with a standard looking front cv axle. Remember, you need an extra 4 inches to use the tool. Maybe the seller forgot?? The small band won't fit any normal cv axle boot and definitely cannot use the tool, just pliers. These bands should be used for non-critical purposes as zip ties. The tool is intriguing but requires excessive fiddling. There's no need to include a cutter. If you insist on using these kind of bands, look at Lisle, they make a simple and effective tool for this. I decided to use the crimp style clamps because quality clamps are much more accessible. Your local shops probably have them. I finally got some from Napa. More $ but peace of mind. The crimper tool maybe $15 more but simpler. I learned my lesson in this one and am only trying to help those rebooting a cv axle in an easier way.
