CALIDAKA Geographic Globes, Antique Globe with A Wood Base, Vintage Decorative Political Desktop World for School, Home, and Office, 8.7" x 5.5"

My sister had been looking for a globe for her office but didn't want the large size one. She loves the color and size of this one and it doesn't take up alot of room.

the globe itself is beautiful. Nice size and detail the stand however is a much lighter color than what is pictured. The stand is made out of a pressed wood so re-staining it doesn't work very well. Even if you sand it, the stain won't adhere to the base very well. I personally made a new stand. I went to a hobby shop and bought a real wooden stand. Then I stained it a much darker color to match the piece holding the globe. I just drilled a hole in the center for the screw, used the small wooden piece and now everything looks like it should.

This is a classic looking (Victorian or Edwardian period) world globe, smaller size for desktop. VERY nice looking, real wood stand (light oak stain - I might re-stain it dark cherry or mahogany to make it look more antique). Excellent price and it arrived quickly and on time. Would recommend to anyone.

The artwork on the globe itself is nicely laid out and attractive. However the listing shows the wood base stand being a dark color. It isn't. It arrived instead with a light oak color for the base stand.We sent it back figuring it was a mistake and had them resend another one as shown.Instead, we got another one with a light oak color base.We like it enough to keep, but we will have to stain the base darker ourselves, which is why the 3-star rating, especially given the price paid.Seller should update their listing to ensure future buyers are getting what is advertised.

My neighbor is finishing her masters program this summer..I forsee her using her degree and sitting behind a mahogany desk..for me maps and globes are the eyes to the world..if she needs a work break she can just focus on her globle imagining a visit to a far away place.
