Good but.....also a little bit of spoiler...tiny
So I felt the story didn't draw me like usually and I felt like Alex is getting disrespect left and right even from her castle mates. They just act like she's a problem child and are so out of patience with her. They live in her castle and everything has been to protect them....I just am thinking she deserves more. Also I'm actually team Falin all the way but I didn't like how Death all of sudden changed. She was put on the back burner and he was barely around. I know he needed to move on but having him turn shady wasn't the way...the character in the books before would never have put anything before Alex. He was willing to give up his immortality but now he can't break any rules and he's always busy...not the way the character would be...I love the series look forward to more!!!! Just didn't feel like this one connected to me.

Great!
I'm a big fan of these Grave Witch books. This one started out pretty well. There were a few things at the beginning that I felt were a little too obviously going to come back and be major plot points, but things started moving along nicely. Alex's relationship with Death continues to be a problem for both of them as they try to find time to spend with each other, and Alex tries to deal with the weight of his secrets.I read almost 60% in one push over the weekend. Then during the week it wound up being several days before I picked it up again. I realized that while I was enjoying reading the book, it was missing something to make me anxiously want to know what happens next. I think it's because I never really felt that Alex was in danger, and her relationships with Death and Falin were clearly going nowhere fast.I really like all the stuff with the Fae - most especially coming from Alex's viewpoint, someone who understood Fae customs and now feels how binding they are firsthand.Once I picked it up again, I continued to find it enjoyable. We finally got that one plot element to drive me to read as fast as I could to the end. Alex shows some nice development over the course of the book and there were a few interesting things dropped toward the end of the book that make me excited to read the next one.

One of my favorite urban fantasy series
I love this series. I love the juxtaposition between Death and Falin. I love the world that Price has built. However...I am getting a bit tired of two things; 1) Alex keeps 'discovering' new things she can do; things that no one else can or ever has. These new talents are always very convenient. That needs to stop. Alex has plenty of magical tools; she doesn't need any more. To be blunt; it's lazy writing. 2) I am really tired of hearing about how bad Alex's eyesight gets whenever she uses magic. With this much emphasis on the damage to her eyes, the only realistic place to take it is that she becomes blind. So, either that aspect needs to be toned down or, better still, there should be a way to protect her vision.Normally I get tired of a love triangle really quickly, and I just want the main character to make a choice. However, I like Death and Falin, so I can understand why Alex can't pick. Of course, Price is going to have to get off that fence pretty soon, and it will be interesting to see exactly how she does it.Overall, I am looking forward to the next book, and I hope there are many more.

A less than stellar entry
I decided to be less invested in seeing progress in Alex's romance(s), so at least this installment didn't make me mad. The mystery seemed smaller this time---no Earth-shattering consequences and a less intense final battle. Alex didn't even die or nearly die! Once again, the final battle was resolved by Alex finding a new power. That never feels satisfying to me---too deus ex machina. In spite of myself, I can't help liking Alex and Falin's relationship <spoiler>and with Death finally out of the picture</spoiler>, maybe it will finally develop further in the next book. They still have to overcome him being in thrall to the Winter Queen, though, a subject that was largely ignored in this book.

Another great Alex Craft novel 😍😍😋
I continue to love this series but in this one everyone was using Alex as a doormat, but she's coming into her own and learning to use her new abilities which I loved. It would be nice if she learned more about her glamor and how to really use it. She seems to have her planeweaver down but now she needs to learn how to tie everything together. It was great to have the whole gang together again but I was sad at the ending........is Alex ever going to get over her fear of commitment? The mystery involving stolen priceless magical artifacts and souls residing in the wrong bodies kept me guessing and I didn't see the ending coming! That I truly enjoy! There are too many mysteries that I can guess the ending long before the end of the book, not this one. Ms Price kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat.I gave this a rating of 5/5 and would love to and frequently do recommend this series! Keep Alex Craft coming!

It was okay...
I'm sad that we didn't see an in depth story line about Alex and her abilities in this book. It felt very surface to me compared to all her other books. One of the biggest draws in this series for me has been all the fae magic she talks about. I'm glad things wound up the way they did with Death, I feel it's been a long drawn out process for this relationship. I'm definitely sad that I will have to wait an indeterminable amount of time before she puts her next book out...

Alex is back!!!!
It was worth the wait! As an avid dedicated reader I fall in love with characters, authors, and addicting series! I kept checking back and was so excited when this book was slated for release - I devoured this book in one sitting - obviously- it was released today and I'm writing this review.Alex has had some pretty big changes and challenges in her life. It was so easy to fall back into her world and become absorbed in her deliminia's, conflicts, struggles and victories.I'm very happy to hear Kalayna Price is doing great and her life is better than ever. I'm a loyal fan and will continue to be for the long haul devouring all of her books!

Alex Craft. Vastly underrated.
This is book five in the Grave Witch series and thought there are long gaps between books they are well worth the wait. When we meet Alex Craft she is a Grave Witch and lives and works in Necros city hiring herself out as a private detective, using her talent to help people connect with their dead loved ones she also helps the police by talking to murder victims to try to solve their murders. Neuro City is an unusual place there are the humans, the witches and the Fae, with portals leading into faerie and elsewhere making travel dangerous. Alex also has a special friend, someone she has known since she was a child, he has no name but he always seems to know when she is upset or hurt and comes to comfort her. He has never told her his name so Alex amuses herself by calling him Death as his purpose is to collect souls at the moment a person dies. Death is the most important person in Alex's life when the series begins but it's not long before Alex begins to find friends and to learn about herself, her talents and her background. When we meet Alex she is not aware of the depth of her skills and as the series progresses learns about herself, where she came from, who her people are and how strong a witch she actually is but this knowledge does not come without a price and Alex ends up with some very dangerous associations. This is a fantastic series, the writing and characters are excellent especially the two love interests. The mysterious Death about whom Alex literally knows nothing and Failn a Fae warrior and assassin who is bound by Kath to the fae queen and as a result cannot be trusted not to hurt or betray Alex, both men love her with everything they have but neither can commit to her and Alex she does not escape scott free every time she uses her talents she damages her eyes so much so that she can end up blind for hours or days depending on how much she uses them as it is Alex is already night blind. With each book we learn a little more of Alex's past and her talents and skills but the stand off between Falin, Alex and Death never seems to change. Start with book one. You will not be disappointed. An excellent series.

Another good story in this urban fantasy series.
Grave Ransom is book five of the Alex Craft urban fantasy series. To get the best out of this series I would recommend reading the books in order.Alex is a Grave Witch who can raise shades. She is employed by the police to help them find answers from the dead.In this story corpses with the soul of another are walking around Nekros city and committing crimes. Once Alex ejects the soul of one of these beings, the body that is left decomposes swiftly, as if it had been dead for a while. A puzzling situation, but as Alex investigates, someone tries to stop her with their attempts increasing in danger.Another good story in this series, which has me ready for the next instalment.

Fantastic series, engaging and interesting
This book is incredibly well written, as I have come to expect from this author. The world written within this series is intricately woven and believable. The setting is interesting too. I love the characters as they have incredible depth and the whole story emotes on a new level that touches you deeply. It is a slower moving book compared to the rest of the series but it never detracts from the overall story.Bravo on a wonderful written and engaging book.

Stunningly wonderful
As I read a lot I lose track of series if I can't pre-order the next. This happened here. When you catch back up sometimes it is disappointing and others it is like being reunited with a long lost friend. This was the latter. Great story and supporting cast. Be warned the ending is sad but the pointers to it are clearly there throughout.
