Is More Expensive Retinol Better? The mysery solved...
I've recently been on a quest for healthier, "glowier", younger looking skin, and began my research on Retinol. Retinol creams are skincare products that contain the vitamin A derivative, retinol. Retinol is a type of retinoid that works to get deep into pores to clear them of dirt and bacteria and is known for accelerating skin renewal. When infused into a cream base, a retinol cream works to slow down the visible signs of age in the skin by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, stimulating skin cell regeneration, and smoothing the texture of the skin. The market is saturated with retinol products. Some are $5, others, like this Glowbiotics, are creeping toward $100. "What's the difference?", I wondered, and do I REALLY need the more expensive option?Retinols vary in strength, and higher concentrations tend to be pricier. However, according to a leading dermatologist, when products go above the $50 to $60 range, "you are probably starting to pay more for the package and image than you are for the efficacy."Across the board, Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Facial Night Cream was on the top of most effective retinol products, and BONUS: it's currently sold for $16.99. If you're looking for a solution that's easier on the wallet, I highly recommend going this route based on everything I've read.https://www.amazon.com/Retinol-Correxion-Wrinkle-Facial-Night/dp/B00NQ2NUXS/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1508942639&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=Roc+Retinol+Correxion+Deep+Wrinkle+Night+Cream&psc=1Now, moving back to the Glowbiotics product. I began using this every night, for the last month, to see if I would notice a discernible difference. I mostly targeted my forehead laugh-lines and crows feet near my eyes, as these are the areas that I'm most self-conscious about. A little goes a long way, so I'm expecting this bottle to last me 6 months or so. The product is thin, brownish, and causes a tingling sensation when applied. I included a photo of how much I use on a nightly basis. I use circular motions with my pointer and middle finger to apply to my desired areas. I'm really happy to report the results are in: I absolutely notice the lines slowly softening and fading. Not completely, but it's almost as if a flattering filter has been applied to my face. I'm not sure if it would be significant enough for anybody else to pick up on it, but I do.A few notes that I also stumbled across in my research that I feel compelled to include:1. Retinol creams are sun-sensitive. This means that it loses it effectiveness and stability when exposed to sunlight. For proper retinol cream use, you should only be applying it in the evenings when you won’t be heading outdoors.2. Retinol use has not been proven safe in pregnancy.Overall, this product is definitely achieving my desired results and I will continue to use it to maximize those results. I'm a little bit disappointed in the price point, and feel as though this product comes at a fairly sizeable premium. For this reason, a downgrade to 4 stars. If youre not sensitive to price or budget, this is most definitely the product for you.

Not for those with a sensitivity to alcohol-based cleansers
Do you have sensitive skin? Have your hands ever broken out after having used an alcohol-based hand sanitizer? If so, then this product is not for you.About one or two minutes after applying this lotion to my freshly washed face, I started itching. My face was red. I quickly washed off my face with soap and cold water, because I recognized this feeling from that I get with hand sanitizer. (I have not always been sensitive to alcohol based products, but apparently I am now). After washing, the itching started to recede, but not before parts of my face began to feel numb. So, suffice it to say, I will not be applying this lotion to my skin again. It is orange in color and is odorless. Given that my face was red and swelling, I would say there was some wrinkle reduction. But I certainly wouldn't recommend it.If you're looking for a review of wrinkle reducing power, look elsewhere. But if you have skin that reacts poorly to alcohol, consider yourself warned. Stay away from this product.

Not for those with sensitive skin
I used this night serum two times. The second night that I used it, it broke my face out really bad. I felt like I could feel it beginning to work so it may be good for someone who doesn’t have super sensitive skin. The smell wasn’t super pleasant either, but that could probably be expected.

Smells bad, doesn't do much above and beyond any other serum
I was not especially impressed by this retinol serum. First, it's hard to tell exactly how much retinol, if any, is really in the product. The language on the packaging is all very vague. There's a lot of talk of "retinol boosters" and "probiotics" but very few specifics. I can deal with that, if I like how the product works, but I haven't been especially impressed here either. The serum is a sort of yellowy-brown color and smells gross. Some added fragrance would make the experience better for me. It get a small amount of tingling when I put this stuff on. I am using it at night, as recommended on the packaging. I haven't noticed significant benefits above and beyond other serums from other brands. At this price point I can buy a serum that looks, smells, and feels better on my skin, and produces just as good results. I will be doing that.

Very Impressed
In recent years, retinol has become the comeback kid of skincare. All the major magazines tout its ability to generate new collagen and make skin more toned and youthful in appearance. On and off for about two years, I'd been using Skinceuticals 1% retinol serum with satisfactory results. I'll use it nightly for a week until the redness and peeling get too much for me, then take several weeks off. The stuff can be harsh, but it's very effective and my skin has definitely improved over time. As time went on, I kind of got away from the Retinol because it was difficult to fit it into the multi-step Korean nightly routine I've adopted recently. When I was offered the opportunity to try the Glowbiotics MD Retinol Treatment, I figured it was a good time to give retinols another try.Right away, I was disappointed to see that the manufacturer does not provide information on the concentration of retinol because, in the past, I found that anything lower than 1% was not effective. But after the second application I noticed the same slight flakiness that occurred when I first started with the Skinceuticals 1%, so I felt confident that the product was doing its job to hasten skin cell turnover (which tends to slow to a crawl as we age). After nearly two weeks of using the product nightly, my skin definitely looks slightly brighter and more refined without the unrelieved irritation I got from the Skinceuticals. At this point, I'd say this is a highly effective skin treatment and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to a non-irritating retinol product for nightly use.
