It works!
This little trap Works, IF, you know how to use it. I had paid my pest control guy 600.00 bucks to get rid of gophers that were tearing up my landscaping. After two months with no results, I did some research and found this trap online. I bought it, found a fairly new gopher hole, and placed the trap according to the instructions. It took me four days to catch a gopher. So, two months, pest control company 0, four days homeowner 1. This trap is very easy to use. 1. find a gopher hole. 2. Dig out around the gopher hole so that there is a slight descending trail leading down to the hole. 3. Set the trap by pushing the arm down and setting the trigger mechanism. 4. Set the trap at the mouth of the hole, and cover everything except the trapping mechanism with dirt. Covering the trap with dirt (except the mechanics on top) is important because the idea is that they feel like they are still underground, until it is too late. The pest control company I was using, was using another type of trap that required poking holes in the ground around a gopher hole and then driving a pick through the ground to create another hole that would be used to put their trap in. After two months of that, my yard was looking like Swiss Cheese. To conclude. The trap was made out high quality plastic and metal. It was super sturdy and well made. The value compared to the what the pest guy charges is unbelievable. The functionality was spot on compared the ones that the company used. The Catchability was 4 days compared to two months + In closing. I really like this trap. When you are done, you have the one hole that the gopher made to deal with, not a hundred holes that were a product of a bunch of failed attempts.

UPDATED: Excellent design and value, but not for squirrels
I bought 3 of these to help cull the crazy squirrel population in my yard. Might work well for smaller rodents, but not for squirrels. Setting was dead easy and just threw some bird seed in the back of the trap. Construction was solid. I set all 3 near my bird feeders last night and woke up to one with a wriggling squirrel in it - he was too big to fit in and the snap was not sufficient to terminate . Not a pleasant site. Took the mallet to it and wound up throwing the trap and rodent away. Will do the same with the other two. @Gonzo, make a larger one for squirrels and you'll have a winner. If you are looking to eliminate a squirrel problem: I started 2 years ago with a pair of https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6JKVK4/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Damn heavy duty. They worked great, but are very tough to set and did rust a bit. Still work well. Like all of these traps, tie them down! If you snag a rodent and do not remove right away, predators will take the meal and trap away. Fox recently carried the trap (managed to chew through the string tying it down) and left it in the street with half a squirrel. Truck ran over it and good-bye trap. I wanted something that was easier to set and tried: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C4J2T9D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Nice construction and much easier to set than the one above, but it went 6 months without a nibble - in the same area that the WCS trap was set. Then about 2 weeks ago, it disappeared. Same day as the one above. I suspect the fox took that one further away as it is much lighter. I am left with 1 WCS tube trap and 2 Gonzo. I have just ordered 2 WCS 'Shorty' (directly from them, cheaper than amazon). Using wire instead of string to tie them down. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE: Maybe I spoke too soon. Gonzo snapped a squirrel this morning. Smaller rodent than before, but terminated. A little too close for comfort emptying the tube, but I did re-set it. WCS shorty arrived and they are a nice (hopefully) rust-proof black.

It works
Worked after several attemps at different location. I guess gophers have specific routes. Not a bad product.
