Wasabi Power 2500mAh Extended Battery for GoPro HERO6 Black, HERO5 Black

How is this "ideal for diving and swimming"? It’s not waterproof. The battery and my goPro were ruined instantly.Very sneaky and very fast. I came back a day later and you have removed your description of this being "perfect for diving and swimming". I suppose that's the correct thing to do, but still, it shows that your original description was misleading.

After getting help from the company I was able to figure out how to use the battery correctly and I was doing it wrong before so I'm changing my review. Its a great battery, you don't need to press the button the back to start the power flow to the camera where I was getting mixed up. Just turn the camera on and plug the battery into the side. Its starts giving power right away. Very helpful!

I bought 2 for my GoPro 7. They both suck. The case won't close securely on either one. The latch doesn't lock down and will pop open. Has happened several times with the camera actually falling out once. Eventually I will lose my camera if I keep using this. I have never had a case pop open before, been using GoPro since the 2. That's the deal breaker.The battery itself should have a lot more capacity, 2300mah is not enough for snow, and with how large this battery is there should be room for more capacity. 3000 should be minimum, 4000 would be better.As others have said, the battery will drain if you leave it plugged into the camera, there is no off button.Worse, using this on a 7 black, if the internal battery is full and this battery is connected, the camera turns off when you try to start recording. And when both batteries are low the camera indicates that is still recording but it's sound only. So you can't wait for the battery to die, you have to change it out when it's low. I have many hours of freeze frames with sound only before I realized what causes this.It's a shame because you can't use a GoPro in the cold without an external battery, and a real shame that GoPro took away the bacpac port that worked perfectly on the 4 and earlier. This solution is such a poor substitute.

I have been using this on my GoPro Hero 6. The main reason I purchased was to do more time lapse video. With the normal battery you could only go for a little over an hour and depending on what time lapse setting you were on, you could only get 20 or 30 seconds of actual video. So if you wanted to do a sunset or stars at night, you would set it at 10 seconds for time lapse and only get about 11 seconds of video. Now I can record for over 3 hours no problem at all. This battery is awesome. ONE BIT OF ADVICE....just plug it into your GoPro. It turns on all by itself. YOU DON'T NEED TO PUSH THE BUTTON!

It's great for what it is, but don't attach it to your GoPro until you need to use it, or the battery might get drained. I wish it had a power switch on it so that I could shut it off until I need it. I would've been nice if there was a rubber gasket at the connection to make it at least water resistant. A place to store the GoPro's removed battery door would be nice as well. Please move the charging jack to the back so that I can access it while it is in the bracket.Other than that, it greatly extends the recording time of my Hero 5 Black, so I like it. Just make sure you don't connect them together until you need to use it, or you might find yourself with a dead battery.UPDATE (10-23-2017): It happened again. I left the extended battery connected to my Hero 5 Black, and when I turned it on, it only had 5% battery life but the extended battery pack had plenty of power. I don't know why this is happening but I'm guessing it has to do with the circuitry inside the extended battery. Maybe it never turned on because my GoPro's built-in battery was initially full. Who knows. A hardware on/off switch would be very useful. Right now, I have to open the case, unplug the extended battery and plug it back in to make it start charging. Please please add a power switch!

I purchased this extended battery because of the short battery life of the Hero 5. I use to use a power bank and a cable. But, I was getting tired of carrying it around. I use this mostly for long time-lapse. I've made 3 time-lapse videos so far and the extended battery alone lasted 3 hours before using the GoPros battery. The case for the battery is just like the Hero 5 case. Very well made.

I've been using this battery and mount for a few weeks. The mount is pretty good and sturdy, but makes the recording light hard to see. Other than that, the mount is nice. The battery is another story. I purchased this extended battery since the GoPro battery only lasts about an hour for me (on 2K setting). Since my bike rides are around 2 hours long, I had to stop and change the GoPro battery a few times during my ride. This is what drove my purchase of this battery. The first few times that I used this battery, it was getting me through my whole 2+ hour bike rides. After a few weeks, the battery had shorter run times... My last ride was a few weeks ago. This battery + the GoPro battery lasted under 2 hours. I'm not sure if the colder temperatures are messing with the battery or not (30 degrees F), but I expected more from this type of battery.

I was very frustrated trying to figure out how to remove the door …. Then I found a great video on YouTube showing clearly how to safely remove the door (Amazon will not allow me to post the URL, so you will have to search yourself …..). I got the door removed, and extended battery installed. I think I will buy 2 or even three more of these extended batteries for my bicycle tours …..
