My naturally straight, thick hair (or "coarse" as my hairdresser calls it) hates being put in a bun. I've tried using combs, elastics, pins, suggestions on TikTok for twisting it upwards, but within hours it fall apart. The only things that are able to tame it are the big long-toothed clips, but I'm not going out in public with a giant binder clip sticking up on my head, lol. Then I saw the instructor for my yoga class wearing the octopus clip: I asked her where she got it, and ordered this as soon as I got home. It really works, holding the hair in a neat bun but with a low profile---you hardly see the handles on this clip. The "tentacles" look pointy and sharp, but I don't feel them at all, and they don't pull on the hair. An added plus is that I don't feel it while driving when it's pressed against the headrest. I'm ordering another one to keep in my workout bag. A smart, compact accessory for anyone with long hair.

Despite favoring this particular shape of hair claw clips, I came to realize that these accessories did not last long.I have semi-straight, slightly wavy long hair that weighs more on the thicker side. Opposed to that of the rectangular ones, the shape of these clips allow more room for my hair to curl and bundle into a bun while also staying in place. All my life, I have used clips like these to help hold back and maintain my hair.My first clip ended up breaking after 2 weeks of using it. I had thought that I had possibly stressed out the clamp too often; though, I don’t think that should have been an issue had it been a decent product. After being more careful with “handling” it, my second purchase ended up breaking the same way in less than a week from receiving it: claws were in tact, but the bind broke in two.I enjoyed my items while they lasted! xx

I had a sturdy “claw hair clip” from Nordstrom that lasted me MANY years in the mid-2000s. I mostly used it at the gym and for keeping my hair up in the shower on days I wasn’t washing my hair.It eventually came to the end of its life, and broke (the metal part was worn out and snapped off).I searched EVERYWHERE for weeks for a similar “claw clip”, but could not find anything sturdy enough for my semi-thick hair. I dislike the “regular” and “long” sizes that have more “claws” or “teeth” - for some ironic reason, they never hold my hair up.I eventually go to Ulta - and behold, they had THIS clip! It looked like an updated version of the Nordstrom one I had. As soon as I checked the sturdiness by opening & closing the claw part, I knew this clip was the PERFECT replacement.It lasted me approximately 5 years (including getting it wet in the shower!)I fell asleep with my clip on the other day and it ended up breaking (it was near the end of its life). I decided to check Amazon for a “claw hair clip”.This clip came up as a *sponsored result*. It seemed too good to be true, so I kept scrolling, but could not find anything similar in style to my recent one that broke…So I go back up to this sponsored one and check out the photos. I realized it’s the EXACT clip I purchased from Ulta a few years back!!I was over the moon to find this on Amazon, and it arrived within two days.No matter what price range you are looking in, I guarantee this is the most sturdy and best quality claw clip you will find!!! I hope they continue making this FOREVER and that they continue to sell it here on Amazon :)This specific claw clip is a daily necessity for my life. No other clip compares or will do for me!!!

I've bought other products that did not work with my hair. Even though it is small which I like it grabs my hair close to my scalp and stays put.

I absolutely loved this hair clip for the few weeks I had it but it broke just randomly while I was putting it in my hair and I was disappointed because $12 for a hair clip that lasted a few weeks is crazy to me. I tried to contact seller. I’d buy 10 of these clips if they lasted longer than a few weeks

I especially like that it doesn't have rubber/vinyl on the inside of the "arms". That rubber always starts to peel away. This is just the right size for my hair and it grips but doesn't hurt.

I really like the quality and large size. It grips my super long thick hair well. But the clip does snag my hair sometimes, which is why I would recommend the 718 style over this one. The 718 is even bigger and it doesnt get stuck on my hair.

Bought this for my daughter after she tried mine. She had been amazed that I had a clip that worked to hold my very thick hair. I love it, it’s perfect, the only thing is, it’s expensive. But I guess you get what you pay for.
