Q: Terrible Water Pressure drop, plastic ring in 3rd cylinder, why?

I had a similar problem with the KDF filter(2nd cylinder). I'm a plumber and realized immediately that the filter was bad. I called customer service and they diagnosed over phone and sent out a new set right away. No more problem! Make sure you install a bypass pipe with any system.

Q: Can you use any 4.5 x 20" filter with this system?

I am not sure that you can use "any" 4.5 x 20 inch filter, however I am using a 4.5 x 20 inch filter made by another company and it is fine. Typically as long as the filters follow the 4.5x20 inch dimensions, they will work without issue. Then again, I haven't tried every 4.5x20 inch filter, I can only speak to the one I use from another company and it works.

Q: Can you change the order of the filters or do you have to be in the order they show in the picture?

All the cylinders are the same, so there shouldn't be any issue changing the order, as long as you move in progression from coarse to fine. My inlet was on the left, so I just swapped the end ones and it works great. If your water has lots of very coarse particulates like mine, I highly recommend installing a coarse spindown filter prior to this filter system, as it will save a lot of money in replacing the first filter in the long run. The spindown filters catch the biggest crud and they can be periodically emptied rather than replaced.
