Excellent sewing machine!!!
This is truly an exceptional quality sewing machine! I waited 2 weeks to write this review while working on a project made of different types of denim. The machine performs flawlessly, the stitches are very even, no tangles, no problems. I also tried a few embroidery stitches and they came out perfect as well. I LOVE the self-threading feature! It speeds my work immensely! It used to take me sometimes good 5 minutes if not more to thread a machine! Now it's a question of just a few seconds. I LOVE the pin cushion! I always used to chase my pins all over the floor - not any more. The operation of the machine is very simple and quick, no time spent on learning is necessary, it's all very simple and logical. I like seeing the different types of stitches in front of me too, it helps my creativity. I also tried the automatic button hole maker - that's like a miracle! There is nothing bad I could point out about this sewing machine, it is really excellent quality, a great precision and a very good value for the money. You can feel there was some experienced seamstress working with the engineers on this machine. The only thing I may change in the future is the light bulb. It's not dimm, but I like the light to be very bright (some people don't like it glaring too much). I definitely recommend this sewing machine to any seamstress of any level of experience. Excellent product!

It’s a great machine and not hard to operate.
I’ve been sewing since I as 10 in 1957. I’ve had Kenmore, Singer, Viking and Bernina machines. My daughter borrowed my Bernina now and then and as it was getting to heavy for me (77) to tote around I gave it to her. I borred my other daughter’s Singer machine when u needed to sew. It worked ok. I decided I wanted a machine again and looked on Amazon. I as just going to buy a simple machine but when I saw this machine I thought “why not”, I work with computers, it can’t be to hard to understand. I’ve used it for a few small tasks and love it. It’s easy to understand the instructions and get the results I wanted. It runs smoothly and is fairly quiet. I got the needle threader to work too. I hem pants a lot so the free arm was a must. All in all it’s a great machine for everyday needs.

Awesome machine!
I was looking at this machine and the Brother CS6000i because they both have the exact features I was looking for.... most especially full speed control, feed dog drop, extension table, and being computerized. I am most especially interested in quilting and making bags, decorative pillows and accessories such as slippers, as well as warm winter clothing and pajamas. Now the Brother definitely has the price on it's side but I already knew Janome has a reputation for making solid machines that do not wear down quickly and use metal parts wherever possible Well, I went ahead and bought this machine as an open box/used one to bring down the price a bit, as regularly this machine is priced much higher than the Brother. So I ended up paying 50$ more than I would have for the Brother. what I got was a torn up box, but the machine inside looks and acts like it has never been used and is in perfect working order with not a scratch on it. In addition, I have a very solid machine, the likes of which I would expect to pay much much more than I did, and even more than I would have paid had it been "new". This machine sews rock solid straight. It feels like a solid machine and does not feel like I could easily break it. I have managed to get it to sew through multiple layers of fabric easily. The machine is quiet, and I have gained confidence in my sewing due to having complete control over the speed... even with just using the foot pedal, the speed of the machine is intuitive. It does not start suddenly at high speed after hesitating like my previous machine did. It is very responsive to the touch. The bobbin was easy to wind and load, the stitch selection and size is easy to program. I especially like that I can see the bobbin working as I go and know when it is getting close to empty. One other thing that made me choose this machine over the Brother is that it uses a standard 15 bobbin, rather than a specialized bobbin designed just for Brother machines. I am really happy that I can just keep using the bobbins I have and did not have to purchase special bobbins just for that machine. I expect to still be using this machine for a long long time and standardized bobbins I know I will always be able to get. This is a great machine and more well than worth it's retail price. I am very happy with this purchase.

Fun little machine!
For the price, this is hands down a clear winner! It arrived overnight. It was packed thoughtfully by the manufacturer. The extension table is huge! The features It has are more like expensive machines. Bobbin winder is easy. Threading takes seconds. Each stitch ends with needle in up position. The straight stitch is beautiful. Tension knob works as it should. I sewed for hours because it's so quiet and fun to sew on.

Very happy newish sewer
I am very happy with my purchase. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and trying to figure out what price point to enter the wide range of sewing machine prices. I have a 1960’s singer that I have been using for years while I dabbled with sewing. I finally decided I was ready to upgrade and have more modern features to make things easier. When making the decision I knew that if I stick with sewing I may want to upgrade further in the future but wasn’t ready to go with a higher end machine at this point. I thought about going up to the $600-700 range but when I read the reviews they were mixed. I decided $299 was a very fair price for the machine and features. I have been using the machine now for a few months. It is a huge upgrade from my old Singer. I am very happy with my purchase. It sews beautifully and it turns out I am loving not using a pedal. I appreciate all the extras that came with it, including the table for larger projects and the walking foot. For me, this was the perfect machine and I could not be happier with my purchase. I was hoping to get an automatic threader and thread cutter but am doing ok with the threader assist and there is a cutter on the side of the machine that has been just fine. Thank you Janome for this excellent quality machine at a reasonable price point. I know I will enjoy this machine for a long time.
