Both girls and boys are represented
I really like how both girls and boys are equally represented engaging in different engineering topics. Explanations are great. I borrowed this off KU and would buy a physical opt for my little girl.

Well done.
I love this book and so do my kids. I think this is how the alphabet should be explored.

Great Book but For a Different Age Group
I wanted this book as my husband is an engineer and I thought it would be something fun he could read to our kids since it's a topic he's passionate about. Obviously this is an engineering ABC book so some of the words are bigger and a bit more complicated then simply A is for Apple, E is for Elephant. What I really loved is the first page has the letter really big with what it is for example: P is for Pulley. Then on the next page is a bright and colorful picture and description of what a pulley is: A pulley is a type of simple machine. Pulleys use wheels and rope to make lifting heavy objects much easier. I thought this was wonderful that they describe what the word is and show a clear picture of it so kids can understand it better.I do agree with several other reviewers that I feel this book is targeted to the wrong age group. I don't see how 0-3 year old are going to like this book except for the pictures which again are bright and colorful. This seems more suited to maybe the 4-8 age group who know their ABC's but are ready for some more advanced words and descriptions. One of the complaints that I've noticed in several reviews is the the illustrations seem "amateurish" and all the characters look like children. I would like to remind people interested in this book that it is geared towards children so why shouldn't the characters look like children? One of the final things that I loved about this book is all the inclusivity. There are girls and boys shown in the pictures and children of every race shown. I look forward to more books from the S.T.E.A.M baby collection.

Definitely educational, maybe K-1st grade level
We are using this ABC engineering with our preschooler as some added science and vocabulary. It is paperback and not hardbound and therefore expect the wear and tear associated with it especially with kids. The letters and words are interesting and engagement depends on the kid. Our 3 year old is curious by nature and loves to read to learn new stuff all the time, probably we read this book at least once or twice a day since we introduced this last week. So, it is engaging for our kid but it might be too boring for other kids and I completely understand it. I think, it would probably be better for Kindergarten or first grade (maybe even 2nd grade). Our kid doesn't really understand half of it even with further explanation (but it is getting better over time), but loves the illustrations and we see the increase in vocabulary. Since the preschooler is engaged with it, we liked it and we are getting the ABC technology book from the same publisher.

Quality book design, lower quality paper
The idea of the book is charming and educational. I really like books that make sophisticated ideas accessible both for kids and adults and this book does that very well. It's not guaranteed to engage children unless they're already interested in building and engineering. That being said, it's more interesting and engaging for adults than most other alphabet books, so that can potentially help spark the child's interest beyond what it would be normally. My only issue is that the paper it is printed on does not feel very durable. I think it is likely recycled paper, which is a great idea in theory, but kids, especially young kids (for whom this is designed) can have a very hard time being gentle with books and I will have to protect this book diligently to keep it intact.
