Great so far!
If you want the back-story, see below. I'll put what you need to know up front. This is a very strong material and it is very well made. The stitching is tough and I don't see a way that a dog can destroy this bed (but I don't know every dog). We have a 55 lb retriever/shepherd mix and she is now sleeping soundly. I think she knows that she can't destroy this bed and has given up on chewing it. I hope I'm right, because we've only had it for a week. The cover is removable so it can be washed or put over a different bed if the material inside gets funky. I say buy it, but I recommend getting it for $50 at a Carhartt store if you have one local. Shipping is expensive and slow for this. The Story: Our dog chewed through 4 dog beds in a few months. I got tired of finding a shredded foam and material everywhere, and I didn't want to swear at the dog. The poor pooch had to go without a bed after that and I began to search for something she could not destroy. I thought "Gee, it sure would be great if I could make a cover for a dog bed made out of Carhartt material". I didn't have the material handy and it is hard to find Carhartt clothes in bad enough condition that you would sacrifice for a dog bed.About a year later, just after Christmas, a Carhartt commercial played on the radio that guilted dog owners like me of not get their dogs anything for x-mas, just because they're dogs :). They also reminded me that our dog stays up all night to protect us from squirrels so we can rest easy. I thought the commercial was hilarious and I was full of xmas cheer (rum and egg nog). Being so full of holiday spirit, and having thought about the carhartt material before...I jumped online and bought one that night. I look at her laying in her dog house now and I get all teary eyed...little pooch finally has a dog bed and she's so comfortable that she doesn't want to come out. :)

Finally a bed my pit bull puppies won't tear apart; not that they can't
I have ordered five of these beds. Not because my puppies keep tearing them apart but because they are that good and my pits love them. I have two pit bull puppies and 1 Maltese adult. Over the past 7 months I have probably bought 20 beds including the 5 from Carhartt. Most of the beds didn't last long enough for me to go inside to get my pits a treat. I finally found these Carhatt beds on Amazon in October and happy to say there has only been one casualty. The causality was mainly due to my Maltese harassing my pits by hiding her treats in her doghouse, hide in her bed. It started with a small hole then about a month later another hole then finally last week the pits pulled it out of her doghouse and rip it apart all over the backyard. My pits love these beds. I put a bed in each dog house for the winter. However I did have a bed I bought from Wal-Mart that surprising lasted since October as well. When I ordered a 3rd doghouse (due to the bone situation my Maltese would not share her house) I put one of the Carhartt beds inside and still had the Wal-Mart bed in another doghouse. My puppies would fight over the house with the Carhartt bed. So I replaced the Wal-Mart bed with the Carhartt so problem solved. Except the Wal-Mart bed didn't last more than a couple of days after that. My pit puppies are going on 8 months and weight about 80 lbs each. These beds are heavy but they were able to drag one into the yard to lie on. These beds are very sturdy and well made. I would expect nothing less from Carhatt. I really like these beds and my dogs love them.

Great Bed!
I was hesitant to purchase this since Archer is such a big chewer and just pulverizes everything I give to him, but I've found that if I keep this out of his kennel and in the living room, he does not try to chew it. Archer destroys the toughest toys (even the ones made from the fire hose material), so if your dog can get through that, they will get through this bed. If your dog is a chewer, my suggestion is to purpose this bed as a place for them to lay when they aren't alone. As far as the bed goes, it is the perfect size for my Lab. He fits on it very well and he took to it immediately. Many of the reviews on here said the filling was a joke. I don't know if I would go that far, but it did leave a LITTLE to be desired. For me that's an easy fix though - since Archer loves to de-fill his toys, I have decided to recycle the materials and gradually fill up his bed with the filling from his toys as he destroys them. For the size of the bed and quality of material, it is a great deal. Something like this would cost $150 or more at any pet store.

solid outside, flat and lumpy on the inside
I got this bed because I really liked the idea of having a Carhartt canvas bed (extremely durable and I think good looking). The outside is exactly what I would have expected high quality canvas along with a high-quality heavy duty zipper to remove the cover. The insides definitely leave something to be desired, I was a little concerned that this might be the case when it arrived and as it wears the "lumps" become more obvious. We have since gotten a more plush, albeit, uglier bed that I would say my dog prefers. However, The Carhartt bed fits nicely into his crate and does provide some cushion compared to the hard plastic alternative. I would probably rate it at about 3.5 stars if possible. The above post mentions placing another bed inside, but for 50 bucks that seems kind of ridiculous for just a cover, in my opinion. Fix the "stuffing" and you have 5 stars easily.

Nice Dog Bed
Our dog loves his bed! The cover has withstood his daily "digging" of his sleeping spot (he is a 50 lb cattle dog mix). The only complaint is the way the stuffing is distributed - the filling moves out of the center square leaving a bit of a doughnut shape. This thin spot then gets a bit chilly on our hardwood floors. This may not be a big deal on carpet. We have just tossed the bed around a bit to redistribute the filling and put his blanket in the middle. Overall we are very pleased with the look and durability of this dog bed!
