Really interesting
I juste started reading this book and it seems really interesting, we learn a lot of things about how music was perceived in Japan during and after WWII until the 21th Century. I

Good history almost gets lost in theory
The insight the book gives into certain music artists and eras, especially the comprehensive biography of Hibari Misora, make this worth the effort. The only catch is the author’s recurring tendency to lose himself explaining other writers’ theories, often with tenuous relevance to the subject matter. Stodgier read than Ian Martin’s “Quit Your Band”.
