Awesome Bilge Paint - 1 year later
1 year later - I’m prepping my boat for the spring, 1 season later and still extremely pleased. Bought another gallon to touch up the bilge in one spot where I didn’t degrease enough. Every other area looks like a week after I first painted it. Unlike others, I find application with a small foam roller is much easier than brushing. You just need to replace the roller covers frequently. Highly recommended!Awesome bilge paint. Bought a gallon and used every drop. My 40 year old Catalina 30 was a grimy, smelly bilge and interior disaster. I degreased as best I could using simple green, cordless drill, drill brushes and a mountain of rags. Then I painted with two coats of this stuff. Mixed really thoroughly with drill and paddle prior to application. Used a 4 inch foam roller to apply. Sanded between coats a bit, but not particularly diligently. Dried rock hard, like epoxy. Shiny, white and gorgeous. Water, diesel and oil just bead up on the finished coat. Super easy to wipe clean. I can’t recommend highly enough!

QUALITY OF PRODUCT- NOT THERE
SORRY Total Boat- but an epoxy based bilge coat that does not hold up to acetone? Most boats are fiberglass and acetone is a common solvent. Bildge paint- like the one i ground out with 30 grit 3" wheel on a drill at medium low, needs to be impervious to ALL chemicals! Good news though if you need to remove it, not much work compared to tougher products. Epoxy products should harden to only mechanical and not chemical removal- that's one tough fact about epoxy and why user needs to be careful to cover decks or use mold release products around the surfaces being painted to avoid overspay or drips. Not this product!Also- any posts you read about long dry times and thin coats are all true!! 8 hrs between coats? Maybe in the desert in summer. Look 5-7 days between thin coats. DO NOT attemp to put this product on thick. And if you did just go get the scrapper right away. It will never dry. If this product is re-coated prior to the undercoat curing and still gassing, even if it seems dry, you'll be scraping. This poduct goes under engines. If it fails there's little to do to access. Who has 4-6 weeks for 2-3 coats of this product? Forgetaboutit! Look elsewhere. Super surprised this gets rated so highly-

Clumps in the Can
Product appears to be OK at first but the gallon size can when 1/2 began clumping making it unusable . . . Unless you are going to use it in 1 maybe 2 days after opening you will be better off with the quart size . . . Reached out to Jamestown Distributors, crickets.

Used it on tile wall , dried quick , hard and nice gloss finish
I used this product on a tile wall ( formerly coated by other company) I used inxl primer and this bilge coat as a top coat , thinned it with xylene about 20 percent and it sprayed well and cured fast. Nice gloss and couldn’t be happier about cost and results compared to the so-called specialty tile products on the market. Will keep using this in the future for similar jobs
