Very good quality. Very easy to install, it functions during off-roading very well, never lost signal 1 time..

Once I receive the radio and was reading the manual I found out it's only 15 watts.

This radio might make sense for simplex between ATVs or something where being compact is more important than working well but If you want this for your car I'd suggest spending the money you would spend replacing each part of this kit and just buy better components the first time.Pros: low profile, easily hidden even in a sadan, can monitor 4 channels at once. You can program most functions and channel names from the handset.Cons: Antenna is worse than my HT for reception. Audio quality is ok but receiver and transmitter are both noisy. Chirp doesn't properly support this but it supports a similar model ham radio and you can configure it, but the cps software at on the radiodiddy site for that ham radio works better. You have to download the prolific driver from the QYT site to make the programming cable work. You have too few repeater channels and can't set different cts tones for the same frequency without using the software, and then you have to give up a different repeater channel. The antenna mount came with the cable pointed the wrong way and I had to scrape the pad off it with a razor to access the screws and flip it around.If this could hold more repeater channels I'd probably give it 4 stars because the price, but as is I will replace the antenna first, then the radio, and possibly the mount in that order.

Kinda impressed with this little radio, and antenna. Pretty easy to program thru the mic. But you can do some programming on chrip, if select KT8900D. I suggest only program the 8 repeater channels.The antenna was easy to mount, and reception was alot better than I would of expected!Definitely glad I jumped on this deal, would recommend for anyone fairly close to the repeaters.

Downloaded the programming software on 2 laptops and both indicated files missing or invalid. Seems it's not supported by CHIRP so I can’t program it that way. System is not allowing me to add channels manually for scanning though it says there are 160 available channels, also while it has the weather channels in memory, I am not seeing any way to set a weather ALERT which is quite different from just monitoring the weather.

Please don’t waste your money. The knobs fall off easy. Good to listen to other people with a real radio. I can listen to local fire / EMS. If you are waiting to talk for miles. Hope your a good listener, you won’t do too much talking.

Only giving three stars because I cannot transmit in frequency mode only in channel mode. Most of my GMRS radios will do both and I often don’t know the channel that corresponds to the frequency so it would be nice to be able to transmit in frequency mode.

The unit is super loud ! Full setup even with programming cable !!Works great with chrimp programming
