Good old stand-by for younger, beginning to intermediate players...
As a clarinet teacher, I've used the clarinet 'Rambles' before. I've always thought they were a great tool to insert into the regular beginner literature. They're quirky, not straight-up tonal, and require the student to stretch their ear a bit. They can even be humorous to the trained ear. That's also why you can't use them ALL the time, though...The saxophone rambles are almost EXACTLY the same as the clarinet ones. Most are even in the same KEY! I found that interesting... Nevertheless, one more useful tool to use with those progressing beginners who need something 'different' to do.
