Good guide, but can't really help with the conversations
This guide does have several good points. It looks good and has some nice artwork in it.+ The maps are pretty good considering the size and multilevel 3D layout of many of the areas. It points out where to find all the hidden stuff. They would be better with some indicators to link the connection points of different levels.+ The walkthroughs usually contain 3 main paths: Stealth (no fighting), stealth combat (with non-lethal combat and no alarms) and lethal combat. Those aren't usually the only paths available, but it's enough help for people who get stuck no matter their play style. All the side quests are listed in their own chapter, but the main walkthrough points out any intersections with the sidequests.+ There's plenty of tips for maximizing XP gains listed in the walkthrough.+ There's detailed descriptions of all the opponents and how to deal with them, including the bosses. This boss strategies section I found really helpful.- But there's one fault that's caused me personally a lot of grief: The conversation flow boxes. When you get into an important conversation, there are usually 3 or 4 points where you get to choose a reaction to influence how the conversation turns out. So far the guide has been batting 0.000 on this. Every time I try to follow it's suggestions things go badly. It's especially frustrating with Taggart, where the guide tells you to follow him to the waiting room after you've won the conversation, but following their suggestions pisses him off so much he tells you to leave and the guards open fire on you if you step through the door.Overall this is a good guide, in my opinion. But the random nature of the conversation responses in the game makes the conversation paths provided completely hit or miss. I recommend treating the conversations like boss battles: Save immediately prior and just try your best until you get a positive result. It's a lot less frustrating to do this now that the game has been patched to shorten the load times so dramatically.Note: The original version of this review was written immediately after following the guide to my death. After further reflection I altered the review to remove my pissed off ranting and up the star rating to 4.

Very fun and intellectually stimulating
Personally, I need a game with some kind of depth to it. I don't prefer the button smashers. I like stragety and tactics. So, for me, this game was a fantastic game to play through. As the description of the game itself boasts - there are at least three different ways to play through each situation you find yourself in and you can mix and match play styles in the midst of each circumstance. And, I do realize that this game is not the first game in the series, but since I am mostly a consol gamer, I hadn't played the other games. And even though I came into this series at what is presumably the end of it, I still enjoyed the story. If you're looking for a mental challenge, stunning visuals, an intrgueing storyline, and fun battle mechanics - then definitely buy this game.

Learning curve can be painful if you're seventy
Learning curve can be painful if you're seventy. Side quests sometimes lead nowhere; However the Meticulous detail of some of the set elements can be just astonishing. As a fiction it has clear characterization, good, strong language, a compelling narrative and elaborately artistic spectacle lacking perhaps, as open ended games do , some details to fully satisfy internal coherence. Square Enix has rendered some of the most memorable software in the history of their genres; this will likely join their ranks.

The guide was ok...
After buying both Fall Out guides, I was a little dissapointed with this guide. Also a little more expensive than other guides for a paperback. The Maps are very confusing (at least to me). It does give some good basic info that you don't get with the game. The book is pretty detailed and to be honest I didn't read the book cover to cover.(I like to get the info I need and get back to the game). The book does include a pretty detailed walkthrough.

An helpful guide to the perplexed
I am quite familiar with the original Deus Ex and its less successful sequel. This is in reality a prequel, taking place a few years prior to JC Denton's adventures. In the first two games, there was reference to Sarif Industries, but it was no longer viable. I am playing the expanded version for Mac, and this guide is very complete and helpful. There are multiple approaches and side quests and more background and explanation than is available on internet game sites.

Deus Ex Guide
Good guide book. They give you three different options for most every quest (stealth, stealth combat, and combat) allowing you to choose how you want to play the game. And maps at the start of each chapter showing where most everything that can be found in the game is. They don't get everything, and they are basing the book as if you pre-ordered from one of the sites (not Amazon) that has the "automatic unlocks" available. If you did not pre-order from one of those locations, the book will show you objects that simply do not exist in your version of the game.

Nice guide
This is probably one of the most useful strategy guides I have ever bought. This guide is very detailed and comprehensive and can help you finish quests faster, and complete the game the most efficient way possible.
