As if I had played through the game again
What an incredible read! The book made me relive my first and only playthrough of what quickly became my favorite game of all time. I first played Shadow of the Colossus, years ago, during its launch week. Everything I felt and experienced back then, I still think about to this day. The game was that powerful. And this book really captures it. All thoughts, emotions, and questions I had when I played this game are in this book. The author did an amazing job of really laying out why this game is a fantastic work of art.Even though I only played through this game once, I really dove deep and explored what I thought was the entire map. I played for months. I thought I had seen and found everything the game had to offer. But now, years later, this book showed me there were still a couple of things I had missed! I didn't think there was anything left to learn about this world. But now, I'm tempted to revisit this game, and seek out what I had missed. All thanks to this book.If you're a fan of this game, you must read this. If you've never played SotC, you must, and then read this book. If you don't really play video games, I would still recommend this book. It really showcases what it's like to experience a work of art.

Very good
I liked the book a lot but i thought the author would talk less about playing through the game. However it was really good to read it and see that other people who played the game had the exact same feeling that I did.

A fantastic addition to the Boss Fight Books series.
Shadow of the Colossus is a masterpiece and the Boss Fight Book series would be incomplete without this entry. While the book is a little heavy on describing gameplay, I think the reminiscing contrasts nicely with the developer interviews and the author's personal stories, and I found the book to be both informative and engaging. I appreciated the perspectives of other game developers and the ways that Shadow influenced them, and I really enjoyed the deeper understanding behind Team ICO's process and their motivations. For fans of Shadow of the Colossus, this book is a must read.

Super fan of this game and Nick does an incredible job researching, talking, critiquing and honoring the true piece of interactive art that is SotC. I've read a couple different Boss Fight books and this one is my favorite. A must read!

A great book about a great game
A great book about a great game. Beyond the many insights into the creative process behind the SOTC, the author takes you through a "deep playing" of the entire game and provides a wonderfully nuanced appreciation of this masterpiece.

A great book!
A great companion piece to the game and an insightful journey through what is still to this day one of my favorite games of all time.

Not great
We're huge fans of "Shadow" in our household. This book was not good. The prose was suuuuuper lowbrow, observations obvious + rote, a big waste of time. It's definitely just a love letter, like others have said, and not a particularly good love letter either. The author goes to great lengths to blather on about stuff like his beard - it's just not adequately researched or exploratory.

Ritorno nella terra dei colossi
Molto interessante e ben scritto. Consigliato a chi voglia rivivere l'esperienza del gioco, sbirciando un po' dietro le quinte del capolavoro di Ueda.
