It's the best kettle in the world!
Why am I being asked to rate how lightweight this thing is? I chose this kettle because it ISN'T lightweight!!!I bought this kettle because it has the MOST weight and is GOING TO LAST the longest. It's certifiably BIFL! I mostly use it on my stove at home and absolutely love it. It is so shiny and clean and makes hot water fast! There is no rusting inside and NO PLASTIC. This, in my opinion, is the very best kettle that anyone can buy anywhere. It will keep your water pure and untainted with any taste or chemical.I appreciate the high quality Fire Maple delivers in this lifetime-quality kettle. I tell my family and friends about it. It is so beautifully crafted that it becomes a conversation piece when I have visitors. A full stainless-steel anything is a rare and wonderful treasure to have.I am so pleased to have been able to even buy such a great quality kettle. I looked for a long time (weeks or months) to find this special kettle. It is stainless steel all around, it has a wide lid for easy cleaning. This is the kettle I've always wanted! I need to set a timer so that I don't forget I'm boiling water, since it does not squeal when the steam comes out. It's just as well! It's a simple design and will probably last forever. I'm sure it will outlive me!If you like to boil water, just get it. If you want a cheap thing that's a little lighter for camping, go for it, -- but for me?--- I prefer a heavy-duty thing that's not going to fail. I hate aluminum cookware because aluminum is linked to Alzheimer's! Think about it! Steel is 1000% better! Isn't the extra weight worth your health?I bought this for camping. I carry it in, and I'm happy with it. It is easier to boil water with a heavy-duty steel kettle with a proper lid and re-hydrate my instant freeze-dried foods in their pouches than carrying around a pot and bowls and all that stuff. I know that stuff is expensive, but you can go way cheaper if you pack instant hot cereal/even regular oats or instant rice+beans and use a container with a lid to let it re-hydrate in. The kettle is about all I need.No other kettle can match this one. I looked really hard! I think the closed design with the spout is the best because when I see the steam and hear it boiling, I know it's ready to cook with, sans bugs or ash or whatever from the environment, and I don't need to keep opening the lid to check if it's boiling yet. It's clear to see! Also, I noticed that if I boil a lot of water, the handle can get a little hot, but if it's only enough for a cup of tea, it stays cool enough that I can pick it up without any issue. If I take it out, I'll take a little cotton rag with me, in case I'll need it.

Excellent kettle
I'm impressed with the Fire-Maple company. Shortly after purchasing my 1L Fire-Maple Antarctic tea ketle, the lid slipped into a tiny slot in my camper van and disappeared beyond reach. I contacted Fire-Maple and asked if they'd please send me another lid. Instead, they sent me a new replacement kettle with lid. Such kindness! This is the best camping tea kettle I've ever owned. It's well made--strong; sturdy; with details including a handle that can lock upright during use or lie flat for saving space; the handles hold the lid in place during use; the lid is easily removed when hot; & the spout is designed to pour fast or slow without dripping (it has a well-controlled slow pour into a V-60 coffee cone). I have arthritis, and apppreciate that it's lightweight and easy to grasp and use. It's also easy to towel dry the inside after use, and it stores compactly (but I hang mine on a hook).I'm a van dweller and use this kettle daily to heat water. It heats fast thus conserving fuel. And, it's well-designed to go from conventional cooktop to camp stove to firepit. I will be puchasing all of my camping cookware from Fire-Maple. They're quality products and good folks.P.S. a handy tip: a mason jar lid fits perfectly as a replacement lid for the kettle if needed :)

DUDE, GET IT! *update*, *second update*
I am not a shill, got nothing for this review, have no ties to the company or seller. A solidly built item stands out in a disposable world so I wanted to spread the word.I used the famous stanley “kettle” for years. It is great, but this is better. Water boils much faster in this kettle. Probably due to the wider base. I use it every day at work for teatime and lunch. fuel cans are lasting wayyy longer.I like this kettle like I like my women. It’s pretty, it’s tough, it heats up fast, and its got a nice lid. There are a few negative reviews here and maybe they got a previous model or a lemon but I have not had their problems. Unless I’m tipping out the dregs (90degree angle) the lid stays in place. The lid is also easy to remove to add water without burning my fingers. It’s obvious that this kettle is a tank. Next May I plan to take this wonderful kettle on a motorcycle trip. I will stow the lid but hang the kettle from my bags like a hobo to save space and look cool. I will update this post with after pictures.*update*A++When I find better I’ll update but don’t hold your breath.I didn’t mention it earlier but stainless was preferred as aluminum has possible health effects and it definitely makes things taste gross. Titanium is out because I’m an old man and I don’t trust it.Sadly I did not take any pictures of the kettle on the trip but it performed perfectly! The seal of the lid was so good that water would only trickle from the spout unless I cracked it open a bit with my pinky. A bit of gentle pressure at the right places fixed that problem but caused another. The dreaded loose lid falling out and burning the shit out of your hand problem. Easy fix back to tight and now I give it a thump to break the seal before pouring. How many care enough to read this far? I mean who cares THIS much about a kettle? Well, when the other options are so bad, just plain good stands tall.Modifications I made for the motorcycle trip.1. I whittled a pretty bit of wood to wedge in between the lid and the handle posts for travel. It stopped the rattle and secured the lid. After a few days it loosened so I made another. Didn’t want to hide my beautiful kettle in a bag so I had to do something. Cordage would have been more secure but took too long even with quick knots.2. I saved a cork from a whiskey bottle and whittled it down to fit the spout for travel. Lord knows what critters from the woods might sneak in there plus all sorts of nastiness from the road. It might speed up cook time to leave it in but I don’t want to risk making a pressure cooker explosion when I’m solo in the boonies. Besides she boils at light speed so it’s not really necessary. For future updatesI would like to fashion a whistle of sorts and possibly some piping from the spout for small project steam box for wood bending. Who knows.Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy your kettle as much as I have.*edit*Going on two years with my little wonder kettle with absolutely no complaints. Turns out the water flow problem was due to a dirty kettle (Don’t wash your teapot son, at’s just seasonin). A flavor film built up around the lid seal so I just wiped it off on my jeans and bob’s your uncle. The 1.5 is on my short list now as It looks to have an extra turned down bit on the handle to keep the lid securely in place.

Great kettle
This thing is solid. Will definitely boil water and survive abuse. Did not come with waxed canvas bag however. And it's kinda noisy everything being stainless steel. Gonna have to be careful if you're trying not to wake someone up. Should last damn near forever though, and that's the idea.

Perfect for the outdoors
This kettle heats water fast and is light and easy to clean. The durability seems solid but will time will tell. Perfect for camping. Doesn’t have a whistle, but I don’t need one. Decent price

Compact kettle
Nice compact 1ltr kettle for about 2-3 cups of tea/coffee. Chosen on basis that it's stainless steel instead of aluminium

works with induction hob sturdy & safe, good pourer
This firemaple Antarcti 1.5 litre kettle was selected due to being stainless steel and has an ability to work with an induction hob.The firemaple Antarcti kettle can also be used over fire, gas, electric hob as well as induction hob.The induction hob have is a vango sizzle single hob 800watts on number 5 setting. (the vango needs a pure sine wave inverter for outdoor camping). The firemaple Antarcti kettle 1.5 litre kettle arrives in a box inside a net bag, the kettles handle has plastic that holds the lid on when pouring and plastic where would rest on a stick, reading earlier reviews of melting these were taken off.The firemaple Antarcti kettles handle is folded in bag once out of bag, handle is easy to lift upright where it is held in place by the self locking lugs, the handle extends over lid and while empty tilted right over to see if would stay. The lid can be removed with kettle handle upright, with lids d ring. The lid hole is wide enough to wipe inside of kettle out when packing up or cleaning. there is a moisture absorber inside. The inside of kettle is stainless steel SUS304 does not have any sprayed coating inside. The firemaple kettle is one mould so does not have a seam to leak at base a major plus point.the kettle fits on the vango sizzle hob.The base of the firemaple kettle is not flat, does not seem to reduce boiling on induction hob.Boiling on setting 3. 500watts took 15minutes with 1litre wateron setting 5. 800watts took 9minutes with 1 litre wateron a house hold induction hob 1000watts with 1.25 litres took 7 minutes. There is no whistle so the noise was the indication to water boiled, there has been no change to the stainless steel appearance on induction hob.Pouring was very good, there was good flow from the small spout the lid stayed in place, the self locking handle was still cold after each boil on induction hob which surprised me.In conclusion The firemaple Antarcti 1.5 litre kettle looks very bling with its stainless steel, it works as needed on induction hob without changing appearance and seems safe with self locking handle lid holding. The kettle is light enough without water that with water is manageable.there is no leakage seam at base or any inside sprayed on surface as found with other kettles, the bonus was the handle being cool once water boiled, did not expect that on induction. the firemaple kettle seems perfect for my induction hob needs will hopefully last many years.
