Aurivor Ear-Pads for Sony WH-1000XM3, Replacement XM3 Headphone Cushions Covers with Soft Protein Leather, Noise Isolation Memory Foam, Reinforced Sealing

I was a bit skeptical when reading some of the reviews, but I gave it a try because the price was good. So far so good, it's been a month since I use them, but I find the padding a tiny bit smaller than the original ones.

Reviewed Update on the 29/03/23. I originally reviewed this as a 3 star product stating that these were not the softest of earpads, even though they had also provided the sponge inner inserts that go behind the earpads and underneath the inner layer of material that is in the centre of the earpiece.The seller contacted me and made me realise that I had actually fitted these sponge inserts incorrectly as there is definitely a correct way of fitting them. Basically I had them the wrong way around so they weren't actually providing any cushioning as they weren't sitting in the correct position. I had to remove the earpads, install the sponge inserts the correct way around and then stick the actual ear pads on top of that. This made a massive difference no how these felt on the ear. Now they feel just as soft as when I originally purchased them. This is why I have now upgraded this to 5 stars and also because of the great customer service provided. Now I can also see why the price tag of £15.99 is justified and why the blue tool is really essential as I now had to remove and re-apply the set of new pads without damaging them. Without this tool I would have ended up damaging the new pads, whereas it wouldn't have mattered the first time around as the old pads were no good anyway.

Edit: 06/09/2023After using these daily for about 3 months, I'm upgrading it by 1 star. They've soften up a lot and feel very similar to the original now. However, I would still say the noise cancellation is not quite as good. I do recommend these though, if you can't get your hands on the originals.Original ReviewI bought these to replace the original ear pads I had on my Sony WH-1000XM3s.Pros:- Comes with a little plastic tool to help you remove the old ear pad- Looks very similar to original- Price is goodCons- The material is not as soft and the padding is slightly thinner than the original- Noise cancelling is definitely not as good. Possibly because the seal created around your ears is not as tight due to the padding being thinner and firmer- The material doesn't feel as 'breathable' as the original, so my ears felt warmer after wearing them for a while, when compared to the originalConclusionThese are decent replacement pads especially when considering the price. Just don't expect them to perform as well as the original ones and you won't be disappointed.

I've bought other replacement pads and they felt a bit odd, big, hard, but these feel very similar to the originals. I will be buying these again when they finally wear out.

Likes: Very comfortable pads, good quality, possibly better than the originals. Easy to fit but fiddly to get the retainer clips to “click” in, though to be fair that could just be my age!Thickness- good, as you can see on my photo.Dislikes: Poor quality foam inserts ( shape is good but not the spec) - noise cancelling is negatively affected by these. How do I know this? I fitted the new foam inserts exactly as required (Warning! The original inserts each have four, very tiny, pieces of double sided tape adhered to the screws inside the cups) and was immediately struck by an increase in background noise in NC mode (my preferred setting) and a reduction in sound quality as well. After some fiddling about I suspected that the problem might be that the foam inserts are not of acoustic grade. I reinserted the original Sony foam inserts (after washing them gently) and the problem was solved.So, Aurivor, thanks for very comfortable pads but please use acoustic grade foam for the inserts and supply 4 tiny adhesive pads on each one, if you want to claim superiority over the originals! I can’t rate 3.5 stars so I’m afraid it has to be 3 because the inserts are a very important part of the NC chain

Bought in Feb 2023. Very comfortable and easy to install. However by Dec 23 the outside rapidly comes off. I use these daily at work but now have to replace the cushions again. WILL NOT BE REPLACEING WITH THIS ONES.Update:Seller reached out immediately and offered either a full refund or partial refund with replacement. I was not expecting any response so I had already purchased alternatives so chose the full refund option. The seller did not influence my decision to update my review. I have increased the rating from 1 star to 2 due to the customer service, however it shouldn’t have been required in the first place.

I own Sony xm4 and xm5 headphones but my old xm3's still work perfectly. The xm3 were looking a little tired but these pads brought them back to perfection.

When installing the plastic pins can break right off, as seen in the picture. The cushion can still stay on the headphones but the noise cancelling is severely affected - and this limits the main function of these noise canceling headhpones.

The con: The shape of the replacement cushions is a different shape than the originals, less of an elongated oval. The plastic tabs which connect the cushion to the headset are set at an acute angle relative to the center of the cushion. Meanwhile, on the original customs all of the tabs are set at 90* angles. The original tabs are also longer and click into place much easier. Even though I practiced installation with the original cushions first, multiple tabs bent and broke on the replacements when I tried to push them into place. Because they broke, the cushion doesn't connect with the headset fully. This compromises the sound quality and the ANC. They're now totally unusable. I tried to glue the tabs back into place and try again, but it broke again. I will be asking for a refund.The pro for these pads: The leather quality is good, and the cushions are nice and plush on these replacements. Hence the two star review rather than one.
