This book is AMAZING! Very easy to follow along and gives plenty of real-world examples to explain each point. It also includes free online templates for project management documents. I read the PMBOK Guide 7th edition prior to reading this and let me tell you - I am retaining so much more from this QuickStart Guide. It includes terms and methodologies from the PMBOK Guide, highlighting what is useful and giving tips to implement them at each phase of your project. I originally purchased this to study for my PMI CAPM exam, but I can see myself keeping this book handy while I begin my first few projects.

Good book

This is a handy little guide for anyone looking to progress their careers or to just understand the inner working of how large scale projects are run. They do a good job of simplifying how different aspects of the larger corporation look at the same project and how even though you are all looking at the exact info, seeing it through different expertise leads to different ideas of what is on time and on budget. For instance you may be hitting the numbers for the accountant and hitting man hours for HR but in future forecasting you will hit cost overruns since there will be bigger issues developing which a few extra man hours early on and a bit more spent to solve smaller problems will minimize larger issues. When you get this book you get access to some free resources to help refine management skills. It really is worth the read. There are pages in the back for notes, questions, websites, and so on. If you are going to school, working your way up, trying to get your foot in the door, this book is great on so many levels. So easy a house mom could understand (said tongue in cheek).

As someone at the entry level of project management and with no prior schooling or experience this book builds an amazing foundation!I’ve read several other books about project management but this one is the best that I’ve found so far.

It has video links with concise explanations inserted to some sections. So it’s easier to understand. Love this feature.

This book is packed with practical tips and easy-to-understand explanations of PM terms. Also includes links to a lot of resources which I didn’t expect, including explanatory videos. This book is a great value.
