Pflueger President XT Spinning Fishing Reel

I have 2 of these and a president that's 1/2 the price. Both the president and this says 10 bearings however the president flows smooth

I have both the President and President XT. (Size 40) The only difference mechanically is that the XT has a slighty different gear ratio, I doubt you'll notice it in the field. Both reels feel smooth when winding and casting. IMO, the XT looks a little prettier cosmetically and that's really where your extra $20-$30 goes. Buy either and enjoy.

Maybe it is the way I spool my reels, but the 20 size I purchased is not managing the line well. Again, this could be self inflicted, but the line is not spooling evenly. Other than that, this is a good little reel, and it is small and lightweight, perfect for ultra light fishing. Would be a solid 5 if it were not for line management. I need to figure that out as it is driving me crazy.

For ultra light, light and light medium reels the Pflueger President Series has been my go to reels. I've owned these Pflueger reels for going on 10 years now, between the regular and the XT versions. None have ever failed on me, none have ever caused any problems!To me, they are the BEST value in the size classes referenced above in terms of price to performance to reliability to longevity.My kids grew up fishing these reels, learning how to use spinning reels - so they've been put through their share of abuse by inexperienced fishing people - but have always held up well.I bought the 30 XT reel to replace the 25 XT reel that ended up in the bottom of a lake when left unattended on a boat with the line out! That reel with 4 pound test caught a 46" musky (by my wife) - exactly one day before being lost to the lake.I can't speak highly enough about these reels. In my opinion, one has to spend A LOT more money to achieve better performance and service.So if you are seeking an ultra light, light, light medium or medium duty reel - I honestly don't think you can find anything better for the money and I don't think you can find anything even 25% better for three times the price of these.FYI - for medium heavy and heavy duty spinning reels, I use the Shimano Stradic Series (4000 & 5000 Series). They are a LOT more money, of course are built for much heavier applications, are silky smooth - but to be honest, I don't know if they are really that much better. I would rate those a 5 Star on quality and performance, but only a 3.5 to 4 star on value.I fish freshwater, inland lakes, typically for bass. Where I fish, bass are typically more moderate in size (2-3 pound range) and in my opinion, there is little more enjoyment in fishing than catching a bass on a 4 pound (line weight) ultra light or 6 pound light rod and reel set-up.

This is our second purchase from the Pflueger President product line. Solid, reliable reel with a good feel, smooth retrieve, etc. Casts very well. Will continue to buy Pflueger reels.

Buy this you won't regret it. Love these reels! I own 4. Great build quality. Really nice drag, just nice smooth even operation. Pretty and tough. This was on sale for $64.00. normal retail was $90 a few years back. Around $120-$150 depending on where you go now. So I had to grab 1 for a spare. I can atest to having mine for around 6 years, of HARD USE! Lot's of water/dirt/sand/seaweeds/bugs and genarl BS, And they are still great. Only complaint is the switch for the anti reverse broke a couple of years in. Easy fix, parts are cheap. Or just raid a similar Shakespeare reel for free. Quality does still exist in products like this. Highly recommend these reels.

Beautiful reel, nice coloring, very smooth and light, quiet too, Casts with this are awesome, heavier line is a bit of a problem with it jumping off the back of reel, but 12 lb test works awesome. Good price and very quick shipping.

Put 20 pound braid on this reel with medium heavy ugly stick for pike fishing very smooth action cast a mile
