Another wonderful DK book!
This book is filled with a HUGE number of terrific photos (of which a few are in sepia) and graphics. Also, the variety and the colors are really great.

Beautifully presented DK book
The media could not be loaded. DK books to me are all about browsing at leisure; dipping in to now and again. This is just as I expected. A lovely chunky hardback; 360 pages crammed full of facts, diagrams, drawings and photographs.Split into 7 sections:1. The ancient world2. Trade and conquest3. The age of discovery4. The age of empires5. The age of steam6. The golden age of travel7. The age of the flightI think this book will appeal to adults with a general interest in travel / history of the world and wanting to brush up on general knowledge. Also suitable for children as the sections on each subject are brief enough to read in 5 minutes.I’m going to thoroughly enjoy reading the rest of this very interesting book.

Sooooo much to read and look at
As a book, this is packed full of fascinating stories and information pertaining to the history of travel. It is very much a coffee table book, with short (usually two page) write ups relating to a different period from the history of travel. The book starts in the ancient world, works its way through the ages of discovery, empires, steam and finally flight. Each write up is illustrated with photographs, drawings and / or maps. There are also sections that feature key dates and profiles on specific individuals. There really is lots of information in this book and it will keep you going for a very long time. Clearly, a lot of research has gone into the production of this tome. It’s one of those books that you can dip in and out of. Each two page section will take you about five or ten minutes to read and digest.Unfortunately, my review copy arrived damaged. Maybe the damaged / returned copies were deliberately sent out for review? Had I paid for this, I clearly would have returned it. None the less, a five star review.

Perfect book for history fans...
This is a beautiful, fascinating, informative, big, book. If you love history, or only have a passing interest there is something for everyone in the pages. From ancient times through to space and the 21st Century. It's not just about travellers, but that facilitates a very large overview of all aspects of each age and civilisation.Travel of various peoples shows maps, trade, objects, inventions, ideas, cultures, it covers nearly everything, accompanied with photos of places today, artefacts, artwork and everything in between. Each age or culture cover 2-4 pages and the book follows on chronologically. The only downside for me, is the print is a little small, so you need a good light and your up to date spectacles prescription. Other than that it's a valuable and interesting addition to any coffee table or book shelf or home library.
