This product has two parts: a ventilated platform and a desktop riser. Purchased this 2 part product for the ventilated laptop platform only. The desktop riser platform is well-designed, strong, and heavy. The rise will be used now that I see how beneficial it is to hold many items that won’t fall off or roll around. The product arrived with an easy to use screw driver for the six screws required for the riser platform - super easy to assemble. The boxed components are heavy if you must carry the box upstairs, so be sure to look at the shipping weight. Keep in mind that it’s easy for some people and heavy for others. The ventilation is passive. If sitting on bedding, skin, or flat surface, there is no where for the hot air to go. That’s the short story. Now for the long story.What I like:I like the width of the ventilation because it fits an electronic Lazyboy recliner where I must sit until my broken ankle bones heal a little bit more. After trying other high tech ventilation systems, I decided to try low tech.What else I liked:I like that the assembly was easy with only 6 screws for the big platform and nothing was needed for the flat ventilated platform. I have included photos for your review.I believe the felt mouse pad would be better if I bought my own mouse pad and trimmed it down for that area. The felt on the ventilated platform can stay in place or be pulled out and replaced with the mousepad of your choice.If I was buying the platform strictly for ventilation- the platform would not be effective for ventilation. The arms of my chair hold the platform up and off my skin so the hot air vents out. I hope that statement made sense. If you need stronger ventilation for your laptop, either adapt this product or choose an active ventilation product. On a flat surface or bed, the holes in the product trap the heated air with no outlet for the hot air. You may be able to router some ventilation channels on the underside if you have the skill, tools, and motivation.I like that the platform bottom stays cool even when the laptop base is hot.I can now watch streaming videos with headphones while the family watches TV or the news. There is no extra fan noise to interfere with their hearing.For my purpose, this product was a good value. This review is designed to be helpful and if it was, please select the helpful option. Received the order today and love it's look. It's exactly as described and has a great finish for the price. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a sleek looking lapdesk/table top.Pros:Looks B-E-A-Utiful and fits nicely on my lap. I don't consider the "extra" weight to be too much and the side slots work great with my iPhone in the case. Haven't tried putting my wife's iPad in a slit, but I'm sure it would be fine.Cons:The finish is not perfect. There are some rough spots around the edges, but nothing I would be worried about getting a splinter on. A little more sanding and polish and this would have been perfect for 5 stars.The Mouse Pad is simply a piece of felt and works well. The texture is a little off putting, however, and the felt doesn't always match up to the edge of the bamboo. It causes mild irritation, but nothing worth returning over.If you're looking for a well built lapdesk and monitor stand, this price can't be beat.

This is beyond my wildest dreams.I have an unusually large laptop with a 19'' screen. I was using a small foam pad with a fan in it for years as a comforter while using it on my lap, I should also probably mention the fan failed within a few months of use so it was more of a platform than anything. Originally I was looking for a new pad with a fan in it to replace the old pad that was literally falling apart and leaving bits of Styrofoam filling everywhere.In a quest to find something of an appropriate size I stumbled on this two-piece set of a desktop organizer and laptop platform. After a few minutes of work screwing in a few screws, both pieces were fully prepared. I use both pieces for the laptop now, one when using it on my desk and the other on my lap. This has made things better than ever, allowing me to use not only a mouse on the desk but on the go. My laptop is so large it covers about half of the crevices/slots on the desktop organizer, but the ones it leaves open are more than enough for my needs. Not only that, but I've found I can actually use the laptop platform as a stand beneath the desktop organizer for extra room, it makes a great platform to use for my Wacom pad for drawing on the laptop. I'm usually doing 3 things at once, or going back and forth from one to another. When it's a cold evening or weekend morning, this lap desk is perfect! I have yet to use the other part of it for my desk, but I'm sure I will.. once it is warm enough to leave the blankets behind. There is enough room to hold my laptop, tablet, phone, a book, and my glasses. Probably more, if I tried. You can easily lift it off of your lap and set it down without things flying off. I'm glad I spent a little more on this one. I've tried several others and I've either felt trapped underneath or they are too small or do not have any airflow. I also LOVE the fact that this has all of the grooves to put your phone or tablet. Great design and the bamboo also looks better than plastic. VERY NICE!
