I don't have a surf board, but I do things when it is windy like ride in small boats with outboard motors where there is no shelter and walk in windy places. This hat is with the substantial chin strap is perfect.The brim is stiff in front and floppy over the the remaining 6/11. I love the stiff brim that doesn't fall in your face. The size of the hat is substantially adjustable. I don't think there are many heads it wouldn't fit. My family has heads that go up to 7-5/8 in size and this hat fits all of us. The brim is not wide. The top of the inside is lined with mesh as are the very top of the chin straps.The chin strap is adjustable which seemed difficult for me, but my son didn't have any problem with it. So, it is just me. The neck flap is attached with three buttons that fit through small elastic loops sewn into the edge of the inner hat band.I have the light grey which is quite a bit lighter than pictured above. It looks almost khaki in color, but is gray.The fact that I think I look pretty good in this hat is a big plus because I look dorky in most hats.A good, practical hat.

I've got an XL hat and this hat is a bit too small for me, but it's a cool design. Straps on tight and the brim has a cool reinforcement.If you want a bigger brim this hat is not the right one for you, and if you want full neck coverage the neck cover is too small. But if you want a smaller rig you're gonna love it.Video shows full overview.

In a sea of sun hats, the USHAKE surf hat doesn't do much to differentiate itself. It does seem thick, durable, and has a sturdy chin strap. I wouldn't expect this hat to stay on during surfing, but during boating and other mild to moderate watersports, and for hiking, it's more than secure. My only real complaint is that the brim could be wider/broader for more sun protection.
