Box pretty art cards so cool feels collectors quality!
I want to start this review by saying all of this will be part spoilers. Enough for you to understand the story but not enough to spoil dialogue or outcomes.I am a VERY picky person when it comes to stories and anime. I pick up a new series about once or twice a year. I usually just rewatch things from childhood or my favorites instead of getting invested into new things.I just rewatched the first series, and it is my favorite anime still all these years later. I can only think that I like Howls Moving Castle movie(soft fantasy and romance) and ranma1/2(sentimental and rival romance) more and gintama for comedy. So knowing that, I am saying that this was a very good series. It was so beautiful, and the characters felt interesting and dynamic. To know what your getting into; think of the Lancelot team with Suzaku, you know how it was one special knightmare and scientists with him. Well, this series is kinda like that, but you get four people five if you count the commander but she only joined one time. And I won't spoil more. When it comes to mc you got Akito who is like a mix of a yandere plus a naive boy vibes. It is an unforgettable mix. When you first meet him, he seems kinda crazy then he kinda acts softer and you get to know him.I think he at first gives off the scariest vibes in the entire code world. The mc girl feels like NOT any copy of previous girls if anything closest to Euphemia except that her voice didn't sound as brave as she acted so it was hard to understand that the girl was this stubborn optimist yet depressed who still gave a strong front because the voice lol. This girls voice is amazing. This girl has a lot of lore around her and makes her dynamic. She was also shown she could use knightmare and power drones up front making her seem like an engineer and made her well rounded.Akito never once felt like the mc, the girl did. Here is a ton of spoiler thoughts but not too spoilery;I never understood what the geass powers were in this series never once lol.Once second I though there power was this the other that. What they did with lulu was brilliant writing then they messed it up by writing him out too early. The revolt scenes in crowd were picture stills and felt pointless that arc didn't go anywhere lol.The anime didn't have HS scenes but makes up for it with a bunch of kids running everything. They could of easily fixed this by giving them a cute HS-like sports training arc instead of what the characters do when they first get there . . .The new characters all are awesome. There is some dude in a comma, and I didn't get his purpose to the story. I know what he did, but it was like he did not need to be in a comma there. They had some great things with hooking people's brains up and then linking the geass.Spent every single ep waiting for the girl's geass, and when she gets it, I had no idea what it was. I guess I liked when they explained the types and limits in the originalThe gypsies thing felt dumb. I would rather them have fought lulu more. The random filler characters grew on me.Too much was not shown at the end, and they should of gave them new outfits for final scene not reused the ones they already used.Suzaku felt in-character to me. If you understand when this took place and his mindset. The choke scene was hard to watch, if anything, this series made me care for lulu more as I had a hard time thinking of him as a victim and letting everything he did fly in the original. This humanized lulu and made him into a puppy that needs protecting at all cost.In the og, they made all the villains humanized to the point they didn't seem evil or more evil than anyone else save for a few. That made it harder for me to cheer for the main chara more than the others. This series, I cheered for the main most, and Akito is horrifying in a great way. He is not some OP dude that is like smashy smashy smash but rather a killer you would be running from him because he acts like a maniac.I think if Suzaku had given into the darkness of despair he could of easily been like Akito except he was trying to be better than a hardened character.Everyone is hardened in this anime except the mc and some fillers. This is a nice vibe of harden hs kids plus some of their friendship naiveness that makes it feel kinda like a anti hero series except for mc.Two things people seem mad about:That it isn't lulu story, but they should have read the description . . .And the mecs, but they could see how they look from any 1 min clip on youtube. They aren't saying they mad because the events or characters they just nitpicking which annoys me because that negativity stops them from continuing projects like this.I loved the romance. It felt real and more romantic than anything from the original Every scene was like a romance movie. The two had this chemistry going on like they both like each other, and it isn't this random thing either.Just look from the beginning, he seems to be flirting with her and protective then soft and then his eyes go soft and every time he looks they soft in the mid to end.I loved it. They always sit and stand by each other and despite other possibilities of romance, it was a mutual thing. So now remember Li, the villain gives off same vibe but add him to Schneizel. The villain accomplice gives off Kallen plus Cornelia type. The villain because he finds out who lulu is in like a second makes himself the smartest character in the series universe.Every character in this anime has no fear of guns. Remember this it will make you laugh later. The mecs looks beautiful and are the most exciting and horrifying thing as they move like scary spiders. The theme-end song grew on me. I thought it was too soft at first for a war/fighting series thing but despite everything the anime is not as intense as the original. This is not some psychological anime, and it isn't a war-like chess match either. It is flashy mecs, a romance, pretty scenes in the code world, and friendship power done right also a brother rivalry that needed more time to develop its tension.Side notes:They didn't have him take her to Japan! Wtheck!I guess that is to have him appear in future in the continuing of series him and mc in Japan.

Most buy especially if on sale
10 card pictures at least in mine holographic sleeve double thick blu ray length case.To rephrase normal blu ray length twice the thickness just in case you want to buy a sleeve protector at the same time for the outer holographic paper sleeve.

A lot of heart
I may like this series more than the original series- it features an ensemble cast of young outcasts and the theme of properly expressing love and finding a home really touches the heart when slowly savoured.CG is highly appropriate for mecha and allows for some of the best, most fast-paced combat I've ever seen.

Good product
If you're a fan of Code Geass, then you'll probably like this even though it's only I think 5 episodes. I was kind of confused on where this takes place & after watching all the episodes, I think that it takes place after the first season & before Lelouch gets his memory back in the second season because there are 2 familiar faces & if you like me you'll wonder why they're in this, if you watch the whole thing you'll probably have an idea on why they're in this. Still not a bad thing to watch, just a bit confusing at the beginning.

A nice addition to the world of Geass
First and foremost, this isn't a third season. And it will never fill in that void. While it does contain a few memorable faces from the original series - with significantly more important roles than assumed - this is very much Akito's story. If you're looking to learn a little bit more about the world Geass takes place in and have the focus moved elsewhere, this will do just that.Presentation-wise though, this OVA once again stands out a bit when compared to the original series. Gone are the grandiose speeches, bombastic performances, over-the-top schemes (well...save for one, from a certain over-the-top someone), and a booming score. Instead, you'll be presented with a darker tone, a more atmospheric and somber tone, and plenty of angst and psychotic young men. Thankfully, the story, action and performance keeps it from becoming a self-parody.That being said, this is a very expensive set. Not counting the limited edition set Funi released which included both original series, this is the most expensive Code Geass set out there. Not helped by the fact that it also contains the least amount of content - just five episodes that run under an hour each. It's not Aniplex USA pricing to be sure, but unless you are a hardcore Geass fan who absolutely MUST have their fill, this is a set best waited on for a better price.

The Blu-Ray has stunning visuals, sharp lines at all ...
The Blu-Ray has stunning visuals, sharp lines at all times, and the geass effect isn't blurry. It's everything you'd ever want in the disc version. Just keep in mind that when you first turn it on, Funimation has a one time ad about one of their product that takes roughly five or less minutes to play through, and you can't skip it. Any other time you turn it on, it starts where you left off without the ad again.

Beautiful art cards and cover
Got these on release since I've never seen any of the Akito OVAs and I got the entire Code Geass limited edition series also with art cards. Holo reflective Blu Ray cover looks great as always! Unfortunately, mine seemed to be damaged during shipping since a corner of the Blu Ray case chipped off when I was unwrapping it :(
