cats love this sisal for cat trees, no chemical scent
Ordered 3 rolls of 100 ft. of 3/8” twisted sisal on 08/2022 , see photo, labeled T. W. Evans Cordage co., Inc., made in Mexico. Bought it to re-sisal a cat tree I tore the old carpet off of. (Carpet is toxic chemically, collects dirt, and also our cats were chewing on the plastic fibers once they ripped it apart). Our cats love this sisal. Both of them started scratching and playing with it as I was wrapping it around posts, and now love to scratch and play on it. I don’t detect any strong scent on it, it smells maybe sort of like hay. This is in contrast to other sisal I looked at at Home Depot that smelled like gasoline; and also I have tried other sisal, or purchased already-sisaled cat posts, that the cats won’t touch. I can’t speak to the durability of this product, and I didn’t measure out its size etc, but I am pleased that it appears to smell chemical free and the cats love it. Note: 100-ft. doesn’t wrap very much post. I used 3 rolls on one large cat tree. 100 ft. wraps a little more than the middle segment portion you can see in my photo, which is 17 in. tall x 3.25 in x 3.5 in.

Scratching Post Rope
My cats pretty much destroyed the sisal rope on their cat tower's scratching post, so I was looking for a way to repair it rather than purchase a new cat tower. I was able to use this rope to wrap it around the posts, attaching it with my hot glue gun. The rope is thick and sturdy and is holding up well to my two cats and their scratching post habits. My only regret is not paying closer attention to the thickness of the rope before purchasing it. It is much thicker than the rope that was previously on the scratching posts, but it still works just fine.

Perfect for cat trees and ordered some more.
This rope is perfect for cat trees and I like it better than the skinny rope that was originally on the cat tree. I used hot glue to hold it in place and was able to cover quite a large area. 100 feet was enough to finish a 3.5 x 3.5 inch square post 27 inches high. I ordered 2 more bundles to finish this really large, oversized cat tree I have.I really like how thick the rope is because it saves time when wrapping the scratching post. This rope has no odor at all. There are a lot of loose strands that falls off and this rope creates a dusty area when working with it. But it was an overall good buy and I had ordered more.

Not as good as original
Purchase as replacement rope. This one end up thicker then original on of the two cat scratcher posts. Not sure why, but cat's still prefer post with original rope

T.W.Evans Cordage Co. Sisal rope - perfect for my cat tree
Just what I needed to replace a faux fur/ sisal rope upright on a cat condo that was falling apart. Very easy to use and the cats seem to love it.

2 rope packages were full of bugs...and a few were alive
i ordered these in early Feb 2021 for a cat project that Covid lack of supplies has slowed me down from building. just removed the wrapper May 19 to start to unravel when i noticed dark particles falling from it and a few were moving . product is from Mexico and they sat for 4 months and i don't know what could live so long wrapped up ? immediately freaked out and threw into outside garbage. return not available due to over time limit and i would not touch them again anyway fearing a foreign bug infestation. added pic of one of the unknown bugs that i didn't realize i damaged it beyond what i could recognize with my microscope .i would suggest a cleaner supply chain

Review Updated After Purchasing 6 Rolls
Not bad, but another retailer sells a different sisal rope that is also called 3/8 inch that is thicker. So, the price for this is not as good as would appear on the surface. That said, the rope does not have a chemical smell and is a nice light blonde colour.UPDATE: I've purchased 6 of these 100 feet rolls, and I've updated my review to 4 stars from 3. It seems the rope is not consistent in thickness. Some rolls are as thick as the other brands, some are not. I've noticed that the thickness is sometimes not even throughout a roll. That all said, it is nice quality rope that has no chemical smell, and that's a big deal for cat scratchers.I have a word of warning though: the price is all over the place with these, so keep an eye on the price - you might be surprised. In fact, the wildly varying price is the reason I can't give it 5 stars.

Good quality rope
Nice quality rope at a decent price when I purchased. Used this to make some cat scratching posts.100' was enough to make a scratching post apx 5-6" diameter x 1.5-2', and enough left over for one probably half that size.** Tip for cat scratching posts: wind the rope tightly and every 4-5 turns around the post stop and use a hammer to compress the layers of rope together. This will make it very solid and prevent kitty from picking it apart one loose strand at a time.

Good rope; a bit rough
Used this sisal rope to wrap a support post and convert it into a cat scratching post, hopefully distracting them from the furniture, which is suffering. There is barely any scent, which is good. The texture is quite rough, with lots of loose fibres. By the time I was done wrapping the post, the floor and I were covered in a thick layer of dust, and my arms and hands were a bit scratched up.So far the cats haven't taken to it, even with catnip sprayed on, but sometimes it takes them a while to figure these things out.For a 6" x 6" post I used 300' of rope, and this covered a total height of 45".You can see the transition between the rolls in the picture if you look closely. The top is held together with zip ties.

Be careful if you have breathing issues
We got this to recover our cat scratching post. It was horrible on the hands, we had to wear thick gloves. I assume that's normal for this type of rope though and we figured it would be that way. It worked well and we got the job done. The real problem is that the rope was very dusty...but it wasn't just normal dust, I think it was from the fibers themselves. My husband ended up having an asthma attack from it which is crazy because he doesn't have asthma like that. I would still recommend this rope, just be extra careful if you have any form of asthma or breathing problems at all, and clean up really well after using it.
