The cats love this very nice house! You can insulate it yourself in a couple of easy steps.
I love this house that I bought for multiple cats who live in my backyard. They had taken to this house immediately after I sat it outside. I went to lowes and bought some insulation sheets for around $3.98 I believe and I cut a couple of them in half and layer it on the floor of the house and I used Scotch double sided mounting tape to tape it the sheets up against the lower part of the walls inside of the house and please remember when you cut the sheets it doesn't have to be perfect.....So there we have an insulated kitty house. Afterwards I opened up a couple of small packages of Mylar emergency blankets that you can buy on amazon and I payed on the floor which is on top of the insulation sheets that I placed on the floor of the house so it makes the house extra warm because the Mylar retains heat. After that I opened up a bag of straw/hay and spread it on top of the the Mylar and on the bottom of that is the insulation sheets which makes three layers of warmth. The next step is I had some leftover green outdoor carpeting that I have on my porch so I used what was leftover and put it on top of the other three layers. I then placed a throw blanket on top of that along with a pet warming mat and pillow....So we now have a nice warm and soft kitty house on the inside. I have some Stone pavers that you can get from Lowes for around $1.04 and placed one on each side of the bottom of the house to elevate the house and I had two plain bricks from Lowes as well that cost thirty-seven cents a piece and I stacked two on top of the other in front of the door of the house which makes a little step for the cats to get in the house. The last step in this process is I have cheap blue tarp from the dollar store that I folded in half and I placed it over the house so it draws off the roof and it covers the sides of the house and I then placed one brick on each side of the house to stake it down and you can also place a brick inside of a ziplock bag and place it underneath the layers of Mylar, straw, and carpeting to weight the house down if your concerned about heavy winds causing it to shift. I really like this house and I like looking out my back window and watching the kitties go in and out of it.....They use this doghouse more then they use the other two cat houses that they have. I want to thank the seller for sending it with next day shipping which I wasn't expecting and I truly grateful for it because it got here so quick. When putting it together you may need two people in order to hold one side or take something to hold one side while your trying to put the other side together. This is a nice house for the value and I plan on buying another one when I get the money and the kitties truly appreciate it.**Update***On August 20, 2015 I purchased another one and it was well worth it. The only problem was this time when I tried to put it together it was quite tricky to put the floor together and it wasn't as easy as it was the last time.It was so frustrating to the point that I broke out into a sweat and was so mad! I did manage to get it put together. It's best to have two people put it together and please make sure that you put it together outside or in a garage because I couldn't get mine out of the door and had to disassemble the roof to do so. I'm still glad that the house is serving its purpose.

Suncast Doghouse β Made in the USA
I own a Suncast garden bench with storage that has held up well in my desert climate. Having had a good experience with that product, I purchased the smaller version of this Suncast doghouse, which is said to be appropriate for dogs up to 70lbs. Upon our dog's arrival home from a shelter recently, I realized she was a bit too big at 65lbs to fit comfortably (not impossible but tight) in that model. What's more, the smaller doghouse had a defect in the roof wherein it did not assemble correctly. (Gaps formed at the apex between two adjoining roof panels, which would allowed rainwater to enter.) The company was good about sending me a replacement roof in a comically-sized (enormous!) box but that roof replacement was even worse (warped). As a result, I opted for an exchange via Amazon for this model. This dog house provides more room and seems to be more sturdy overall. This doghouse includes stick-on letters that you can affix to the entry to spell out your dog's name. Upon assembling this doghouse in the garage, our newly-adopted dog decided to help herself to the interior right away (no fear of going inside unlike our late dog who could not stand her doghouse). One downside is that these Suncast doghouses do not come with a fitted liner for the floor (floor dimension is ~35"x28" on this model). It would have been a nice touch if an insulated pad were included since crate pads and dog beds in this size are difficult to find (most of the large dog bed sizes are too long on the length and short on the width). As a workaround, I plan to add a furniture blanket to improve padding and insulation.I do not plan to leave my dog outside much β certainly never overnight since I live too close to coyotes, bobcats and other wildlife β but having a shelter for her is nonetheless appropriate. This model is attractive and will likely withstand the harsh elements better than a wood dog house. (What's more, wood also tends to attract more spiders than plastic in my experience.) This Suncast doghouse will also be easier to clean than its wood counterparts thanks to the fact that it is plastic. Having installed it in a location that receives afternoon shade, I expect it to last many years.

Easy to assemble
It was super easy to assemble, had it done in less then 15 minutes. The plastic is light we live in a hot area I love the venting.

Great for outside kitties!
I bought this "dog" house as shelter for a couple of outside stray cats I feed, & care for. It's so big, I was able to fit their beds they'd been using on my patio inside. ( 1, a bottom of an old carrier, & 1, a large extra litter box I'd had). I also put a tarp over it, & tucked it under the bottom to help keep the cold wind out, because there is space for it to get in under the overhang. It was fairly easy to put together, but did need my dad's help, as it does require two sets of hands to get some of it together! I purchased a afagan & fleece blanket from good will, along w/ some I already had, to make it cozy & warm in there. I also bought an outside cord safe heated pet pad to put in there for them. I'm on the coast of NC, so thankfully it doesn't get too cold, but we have had some nights get down in the 20's! I wanted them to have a warm safe place to sleep. I was so happy it arrived before Christmas!! I thought they may be apprehensive to go in w/ the door flaps down, so I taped them up to start, then eventually was able to put one down. The tarp helped in another way as well, as it had been over an old, large microwave box , before getting this house for them, so it was familiar, & helped w/ them going in to use the house. I clipped it as closed as I could in front, to help keep rain out, as some does get in, in the front. So beds are scooted to the back. I put the fleece blanket in front of the beds, tucked around them, to help create a little barrier from the cold.I also have it sitting up on a little platform to help keep any water out. Oh, & I have it against my glass doors, so had my dad cut a window in it, so I could see if they're in there, keep an eye on them, etc.. he did a nice job, sealing a piece of plexiglass in for the window. πβ£οΈ
