The Kon-Tiki man: Thor Heyerdahl

Beyond Kon-Tiki
One of the best biographies I've read in ages. If you're a fan of Thor Heyerdahl, of adventuring, and of men who live their lives to the fullest and remain undeterred by the mocking of peers, then this beautifully illustrated book (tons of photos, as well as Heyerdah's own sketches) is a romping read.

An outstanding book about an outstanding man.
If ever you wanted to know what all the fuss about that raft called the Kon Tiki was all about - then this is the book to provide the answers. Kon Tiki was much more than just a raft and in so many ways, Thor Heyedahl was much more than someone who simply went to sea in that raft.Through the text of this excellent work by Christopher Ralling, the reader is able to understand both the man and the mission and the significance of that mission as far as the history of the world and the colonisation of the Pacific Islands is concerned. The book is perfectly supported with a rich and relevant selection of photographs, pictures and maps throughout.Ralling has as easy-to-read style of writing to which Heyerdahl has provided as easy-to-respect achievement.NM

Small book, cheap paper!
I love this book, it is one of my favorites. I purchased this copy as a birthday gift for a friend and I was VERY disappointed in the size and quality. Because it was a gift I wanted a hardback. When it arrived I was surprised to learn it was the size of the average paperback, and the pages are made of cheap, yellow paper. I gave it to my friend but I was embarrassed about the quality. For shame, Amazon!

Excellent!
If you ever wanted to go to Easter Island go with this book first. Thor Heyerdahl did it for us first and efficiently.
