6 Tier White Wooden CD DVD Game Book Shelf Storage Tower Rack - Fits 102 CDs

Disappointment was caused by the reviewer who initially got me excited by stating this was 'typical Ikea'. I have recently put together seven pieces of Ikea furniture, and I can safely say that the quality and construction of this Oypla CD unit is nowhere near. Unfortunately, the Ikea CD unit was too tall for my needs and, due to size requirements, I was left with little choice but to buy this one. Please see my pictures showing marked and chipped shelves and panels, there is also glue residue to be cleaned off, defects I wouldn't expect with Ikea units. For a narrow unit, it is strange that the back comes in two pieces joined with tape, presumably for manufacturer cost effectiveness, and there is also no groove for this to be slotted into, it has to be nailed on all round. The manufacturer could save a little extra by leaving out the pictured 'feet', which I would not use. Potential purchasers should note that anything much larger than a standard jewel case will not fit, height wise, as shown, and there is also not really sufficient room above the CDs to get a finger in to remove a selection. Probably only an additional 3mm between shelves would be enough to sort these problems out but I guess that's also not cost effective. Another design flaw is the shelf support pegs which stop the CDs at each end laying flush with the sides of the unit on all but the top shelf, and it looks odd. To be honest, I was considering returning this unit because of this but I decided to try some of the metal pegs without tails from my Ikea units, as pictured, and have now ordered a set from a well known auction site for £1.99. I should then be able to fit 114 standard CDs in the unit. That done, once filled, most of the defects will not show making this purchase experience an adequate, although not particularly enjoyable, one.

Ease of construction

I expected a better product for the price. Although its very easy to put together, you lose 2 cd space each shelf/side due to the design of the shelf clips. You can get the same thing for a better price in local diy/discount shops.

way way way smaller than i expected, but due to it being for cd’s i guess it’s accurate. i wanted to use mine for my books.

The bookcase is typical IKEA. Well designed, solid and looks the part. I'm happy.
