How To Live Icelandic

This is a great book for myself and my wife, we sat together the night it arrived, and read some to get us even more motivated to travel to Iceland in the next year or two.

"How To Live Icelandic" is a beautifully written book with stunning photographs,capturing the breathtaking Icelandic scenery with wonderfully presented historical, geological, social, ecological, natural and societal understanding of what it means to be Icelandic. Reading this book is like driving in a convertible with the top down enjoying the scenery,whole feeling completely contented and free. This book is a gem, for sure.

Fun to read and amazing photos

This is a great guide for anyone who is hoping to visit Iceland and wants a feel for the culture of the country, not just tips and tricks for seeing all of the sights. I've been to Iceland twice now and have fallen in love with this place. This book offers a detailed description of what life is like in Iceland, everything from the culture of smaller towns to how they celebrate holidays and major life events. I found it really fascinating and I wish I had been able to read this before either of my previous trips there. While it isn't designed to be a one stop guide book, it does offer some restaurant tips and some ideas of things to do in the capital city of Reykjavik.Overall, this is a beautiful book with wonderful photos. From the geography to cultural expectations around children to agricultural practices this is a very thorough book. There are lots of beautiful pictures and information about living in Iceland.I learned a lot from this book. It includes the Icelandic alphabet, naming conventions, major cultural practices and celebrations, and more! The book highlights how eco-friendly Iceland is while also talking about how people in Iceland retire later in life than other Eastern Europeans and are an incredibly homogenous group.It's a really informative read!

I found this book to fascinating. The pictures are beautiful. I have been to Iceland and upon reading this book, realized just how much I had missed in the country. It really gives us a good idea of life in a underappreciated country. I will have to plan to return someday.

Short essays about different aspects of Icelandic culture, accompanied by tons of gorgeous photographs (although none had captions or identifying statements, so no way to tell specifically where they were). I found this book interesting because I recently visited Iceland and really enjoyed it - if you are planning a trip there, you will probably enjoy this book as well.

This book is full of beautiful photographs and if you want to learn about the culture of Iceland this book has it all. It explores Iceland's festivals, language, food, pastimes and more. Packed full of useful information whether you intend visiting the country or you just want to learn more about it from your armchair. A great introduction to the country.
