A miracle - infinitely better than a soggy sponge
First time I've used a wallpaper steamer and I'm a complete convert - it really makes it simple to remove paper, even paper that's been up for decades and painted over several times.Easy to connect up. The tank takes a couple of litres of cold water, which then heats up and starts hissing out in a few minutes. There is a good length of hose so you can leave the tank on the floor and still reach the streamer up to the top of the wall. Drips down a bit, but I didn't have any problems with escaping steam or boiling water. I found it easiest to work from right to left, holding the streamer in position with left hand for 20 seconds or so, then move it to the left to steam the next bit while I remove paper using the plastic scraper in my right hand. If there were two of you then you split the tasks, but it wouldn't be much quicker. For really stubborn paper you just hold the steamer in position for longer. Not sure I'd want to try this on a ceiling given that very hot water dribbles down. One tankful kept me going for I guess 30 minutes or so. The steamer is hissing and producing steam continuously - there's no off-switch, but if you need to pause then unplug it or turn off at the mains and it shuts down after a few seconds.Need to wait a little while before uncrewing and refilling I guess to avoid escaping steam. Also I found that where the hose screws into the tank, and at the other end where it screws into the steamer, these do work loose, so worth tightening both every time you refill, otherwise boiling water could dribble out of the joints.I've only used the wider steamer, which worked fine for me, there is a narrower one I guess for tighter spots. Also the plastic scraper is a good idea otherwise I'd have used a metal one and probably gouged out chunks of plaster.

Impressed - worked very well
I'm not particularly good at DIY but I thought I'd have a go at stripping the wallpaper and painting the dining room. I was very impressed with how well this worked. The big areas were easy with the big head and there's also attachments for the smaller areas (around the doors for example). It did a great job and I'm very pleased indeed that I bought it. The dining room looks great 👍

Good value steam stripper it works well.
Haven't had one for many years but it looked like it would take a while to fight all the old paper off anyway this was great,a good price, worked well no issues at all and would recommend.

Pretty much an essential tool for wallpaper removal.
It basically a kettle. There's a heating element that boils water. The steam form the boiling water is channeled along a pipe andinto a container that you hold flat against the wall for a little while. This soaks the paper at which point you can use the included scraper tool to remove the wallpaper. Painted wallpaper needs two goes. The first to soften the paint - which then peels off. The second to remove the backing paper. It's slow to use and tiring to hold for any length of time and you have to be careful not to steam yourself or allow runs of water to get into electrical sockets below. But it does the job and comes with a smaller steam box to handle tight spaces. It's cheaply made, but it's ok.
