Touching, amusing, and ultimately a great Dad's book to read.
I love that Sam and Dan wrote this together, and that Dan let Sam do most of the talking. As a Dad it encouraged me to reflect on what experiences I have created for my daughters, and to admire Dan for all the time and energy that he has invested in raising a son to be proud of.It's a gift of a book - buy one and send it to a Dad that you know has loved his children, and maybe that will encourage another young author. My daughters were happy to create some TikTok videos...how to compress all that fatherly love and attention into 15 seconds?

wonderful book to read with your kids - and see the world anew
A truly delightful book. Each chapter is loaded with insights and personal impressions that are just beautiful. They are also compact, so make great reading with young kids and at bedtime. But they also show a maturity and elegance of expression that is remarkable. (In Vietnam, Sam's father popped him on the back and spent the day exploring villages, playing soccer with local kids and eventually attending a Buddhist funeral...) It is a story that respects all others on this great planet, at a time when such global-thinking needs its advocates. Great on every level. Well done!

Travel is a great teacher
When I was 14 my father took me to his homeland, Italy for 4 1/2 months. It was the best education that I could have had even though I was out of my freshman year in high school for that time. I learned another language, experienced another culture of food, customs, way of life and it opened my eyes for ever.Congrats Sam and Dan for sharing their experience that opens a young mind to the wonders of the world.

Wonderful Book
We've been having a lot of fun with Backpacks and Baguettes. The voice and perspective really appealed to my kid and we've been reading a new chapter every day for the past few weeks. Without any exaggeration, this book is currently my son's #1 bedtime read! I highly recommend getting a copy - it's not only a fun tour through many remote corners of the world, but the emotional core of the book is very touching.

Great for adventurous and curious kids!
My 7 year old grabbed the book from my hand as soon as it arrived and started to devour it! The premise of the book is unique - travel through the eyes of a child. It’s wonderful to share the experience of venturing to far away places - specially since we can’t do any real traveling during the time of Covid. I’m eager to read the book once my daughter is done!
