Do Nothing Conversation Starter
This toy doesn't do anything useful, but it starts a lot of conversations. It sits in our south facing bay window with our flowers & cacti. It usually gets lots of sun and spins rapidly. Almost anyone that sees it for the first time, comments on it. I enjoy watching it spin and explaining to others that it converts the sunshine into motion. I had a similar Radiometer decades ago, but it was broken by a curious observer. I caution guests to "Look but Don't Touch". This Radiometer seems to be priced a bit high also.

Attractive appearance, requires a lot of light to spin
The media could not be loaded. I had hoped that this radiometer would spin using my kitchen's lighting, which is all LED and pretty bright. As the video shows, when I turned on all of my kitchen's lights, the radiometer did not budge (the noise in the background of the video was not from the radiometer; the radiometer does not emit any sound). When using a bright LED flashlight, the radiometer started to spin and reached a good rotational speed. On the positive side, this radiometer has an attractive design. Most radiometers are round and look like clear lightbulbs, this radiometer looks like it is made of hand-blown glass, which looks better than the generic appearance of the others.

Fun to Watch!
If you want a nice moving decorative item, and you have a window nearby, grab one of these. All it takes is some sunlight (heck, even a flashlight will drive it) to start it spinning around on its own without needing batteries. Radiometers are a great way to visibly show some basic physics principals to kids as well. If you're trying to get one of your kids interested in STEM, this is one gateway to try. This one is well made though the glass may be a tad thin. The manufacturer packs it exceptionally well so it's unlikely it will arrive damaged.

It’s cool but super fragile
This is just such a little cool thing that my husband got for my office window. It’s just cool that it spins around and it’s really kind of like decoration that’s fun to watch. Note that it is super fragile, like a delicate champagne or wine glass, so keep that in mind - definitely not letting my kids play with it!

It's a do nothing cool sciencey item.
My husband likes science things so I bought this for him just because. He likes it enough to put it under a lamp on his night stand. It's just a cool unusual gift. It doesn't DO anything per se but it's unusual.

Make Light Work
The media could not be loaded. The Crookes Radiometer, or "Light-Mill," is a fascinating scientific conversation piece that seems to convert light directly into motion. My DORAMI Spaceship Solar Power Radiometer is a superb example of the simple device that confused even its eminent discoverer. I generally keep my radiometer on my desk, where it has started many good conversations. Radiometers are actually driven by infrared light; a small reptile cage heater tucked behind the books on one side of my desk makes it spin like a top, and turning the heater on and off has given me some fun with visitors to my office. This DORAMI Spaceship Solar Power Radiometer is fragile and should be kept away from little hands - being made of glass with a partial vacuum inside it's as breakable as an old-fashioned light bulb. But as a scientific display and conversation piece it's tough to beat this seemingly simple but elegantly made toy. I'm delighted with my DORAMI Radiometer and recommend it highly.

Delicate, and works great
This is such a cool item- it's delicate, so be careful where you put it. The internal assembly is well made and rotates easily- just place it in a sunny spot and it will turn. Makes a great gift for the nerdy people in your life- because who doesn't think these are cool? Nobody worth knowing. Arrives well packaged and requires no assembly. Great gift!
