STEAM Kids: 50+ Science / Technology / Engineering / Art / Math Hands-On Projects for Kids Paperback – September 13, 2016

As a parent who loves to do projects and experiments with my kids (anything to get them learning thru hands on materials!) and has tried and bought LOTS of books over the years, this is one of my favorites! Tons of pictures to help you with experiments, easy to follow steps, simple explanations of why, a large variety of projects divided into categories. The back of the book has a great resource to help you plan a week of experiments/activities, printables, and a list of where to find additional project extensions on the web to further an experiment or idea. There's also a few blank pages in the back which is perfect for a book like this so you can jot down some notes about the experiments (what worked best or how to do it smoother next time!). There are a few things you have to purchase for some of the experiments, like thermochromic pigment for the color changing play doh (I found it here on Amazon for about $18) and 3 volt coin batteries and copper taping. But, they are all worthy purchases for the awesome project you're producing. I've been learning right alongside my kids! This book has been great for my 4 year old but the experiments are still new and fun for the 8 and 11 year olds I babysit. Absolutely recommend!

I received this book two days ago and it has been an amazing hit at my home. My three children (ages 6-8 years) LOVE it!!! The directions are clear and straight forward, the images are beautiful and the variety of activities is wonderful. As a parent, I love that the necessary supplies are largely things that are found around my home. In addition, the activities are rated by difficulty levels and have time suggestions. It is a wonderful tool for children/parents who love STEM/STEAM. I am so happy to have purchased this book and highly recommend it!!!

Amazing book! We home school and I wanted to find a light and easy STEM book for some fun and easy projects, well, this book fits the bill. You don't need to go out and purchase tons of expensive items, you don't need to be a scientist to do the projects! We've already done several of the projects and have a had a blast.So far the kids have loved the bottle rockets and making the cars into moving marker pens. I liked the Sharpie tie dye project.

Using this as a guide and doing the activities in it is better than subscribing to the stem program amazon has going on

I love this book! A lot of the STEAM books I have looked at tend to have labs that I find myself unable to do for various reasons - but this book has lots of simple ones I am confident in teaching! I have a kinder/1st afterschool program class and these are always a big hit! Highly recommend!

It was good. But I found pretty much all of these projects online for free already. I was hoping that this book would do a better job at helping us parents and educators come up with better terminology to use with the kids on how STEAM applies to each of the projects. Like explain the scientific method as you go. Why did what happened happen? What is the vocabulary?I find that this is more like a standard craft book with some nice ideas. But I don't find that many kids would gain more STEM knowledge from this approach.

totally great! My kids have been doing more of this and let begging to watch the ipad! So much better to have the book then the on line version when working with my kids. They can flip thru the book and not get side tracked by the computer.

I love this book! I am in the early literacy team at our library and am so excited to try and share ideas. I am also lending this to our local school's younger grades to review.

Brilliant book full of fantastic and workable ideas

Excellent book full of ideas to get my kids creating and experimenting. I'm loving how as we go through all the activities they are really starting to think about how things work and run in everyday life.Well thought out activities, with easy to follow guidelines.

Such a great book. Lots of fun activities some shorter, some longer. I definitely suggest this book.
