All around better value for money than the OEM grip.
This is an absolutely fantastic battery grip. It fits, and functions perfectly. The color and grip material exactly match my T5i, and the added size means I can grip the camera will all of my fingers instead of my pinky being awkwardly folded under the camera. The grip itself feels well built, and the buttons/command wheel feel just as smooth as the ones on the camera. Installation was as easy as changing the battery normally would be, and I really appreciate them adding a slot to store the cameras battery door in the grip itself. Would buy again if I ever break this thing.

Cheap and it Works; Makes t3i easier to grip
I've been using this grip for about three months now and I couldn't be happier. The shutter button, zoom buttons, dial, and 'a' button (for changing aperture with the dial) all work seamlessly. Dial is not as smooth as the one on the camera, but the difference is not bothersome. In fact it's barely noticeable. The grip adds some nice weight and bulk to the camera, and I really mean that in a good way. I feel like I have a better grip on the camera, since I can now comfortably grip the right side of the camera with all the fingers on my right hand. I took the grip off last night and immediately noticed how much harder the camera is to grip without the BG-E8. I put the grip back on right away! Switching batteries out is a snap. The holder comes out easily, you swap out the two batteries, (you have to have at least 2 to use this grip!) and it slides back into place and locks securely. I've had to swap out batteries on a few video shoots and my actors only had to wait for about 20 seconds while I switched them out. Haven't used the AA-battery holder yet, but I'm sure it will come in handy; it's nice to have it as a backup. Best thing about the grip, besides the extra battery life, is the feel it gives to the camera. I feel like I'm much less likely to drop the camera, especially when I hold it vertically. Also, I contacted the seller to ask about another product and they emailed me back in about 10 hours, so no complaints about the seller either! I received a Meike brand BG-E8, which is a good brand; some reviews say they've received other brands, but I'm going based off my experience with the seller, so I'm leaving 5 stars!

Must have for T2i. Works nicely
It's a must have for a camera like T2i. Even if you don't have a need for 2 batteries get this for a better ergonomic feel for the camera. The grip around the camera is so much better absolutely worth the price. The grip is made of plastic and feels a little cheap. I have not seen the original canon grip so can't compare but the quality is not that bad. It fits the T2i nicely and feels ok. The buttons are ok the wheel to change the setting is not as smooth as the one on the camera but works fine. The grip does have one problem. It's nothing to do with the grip but I will still mention it. If I have the grip on with the canon 70 200 f4 and the trip pod collar on. I am not able to attach the trip pod collar to my ball hard. The clearance between the grip and the bottom of the ball head is not enough. I think it would be a problem with any other grip too. The work around is if rotate the camera/lens a little around the collar. This is fine for a ball head may be a problem with a pan head.

Decent grip for the price. First impressions
After arriving today in the mail, I wanted to share my first impressions. I've owned other Canon DSLR cameras and have used Canon built grips on these cameras, so I will be doing a bit of a comparison here: Build: In comparison to the build of the Canon grips this grip is lighter and less substantial in feel. However this grip mates up nicely to the T2i camera. The latch on the battery carriers also seem a bit flimsy, and I would recommend exercising care in opening and removing the carriers from this grip. Another weak area would be the tripod mount, in OEM grips this area is reinforced with a metal plate, in this grip there is only plastic around the mount area. The depth of the mount is shallower than the mount on the camera so a large diameter washer may be needed for some mounting applications. If an OEM Canon grip is a "10" This grip would get 6/10 for build. Function: As I noted above this grip fits nicely to the camera, the placement of the buttons and controls are identical to those on OEM Canon grips. The feel of the shutter button and other buttons are a bit soft but functional. When I inserted a partially depleted battery in the grip, the battery indicator on the camera showed the battery in the red, VS one bar down when the battery is in the camera without the grip. I'm not sure yet how and if this will affect the overall battery life. This could be a sign that the wiring used in this grip is small gauge with increased resistance, or contacts that are not making full connection. With the battery fully charged the camera does show "full" though. 7/10 for Function Overall this grip seems to perform properly and looks the part. Not as well built as a Canon grip, but if you need a grip on a budget, this one at around a fifth of the cost of an OEM grip will provide you with vertical control and the ability to utilize two batteries at the same time while adding a bit more stabilizing mass. Conclusion: Around two thirds of the quality and build of a OEM grip for one fifth the price. That, in my book, makes this a good deal.

Great addition to Canon 550D/T2i
I was pretty comfortable with my T2i + kit lens as an amateur hobbyist photographer, but after a year or so, I decided to upgrade to a better lens. I couldn't afford a new body and lens so I opted for better glass now, and then sell my T2i later and get a full frame sensor camera. I chose the Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 (first version). I wanted a general purpose zoom lens, with a constant maximum aperture, and the 24-70mm seemed the perfect choice to upgrade to. The only problem is this lens weighs a ton! and on a small plasticy body like the T2i, the whole set up feels very unbalanced and front heavy. Holding and shooting with the the T2i and this lens was no fun, and was always a balancing act. Enter the Neewer battery grip. (It's actually the Meike brand but who cares, as long as it does the job, I don't care what generic brand it is). Since putting this battery grip on the camera 1. the camera feels more balanced and not so front heavy 2. my grip feels so much better, and secure 3. I don't have to worry about changing batteries through out the day (not that it would be a huge inconvenience to swap out a battery, but even small things count) 4. shooting portraits is much more comfortable now thanks to the second shutter release button on the bottom of the grip I couldn't care less about my camera looking more "pro" due to this grip, that should not be something rebel owners should be striving for, instead we should be glad that such a cheap generic product such as this is available, and works so damn well, so that it helps us take BETTER PHOTOGRAPHS. All in all, this is the best accessory I have ever bought for my T2i. I highly recommend it to anyone contemplating buying a battery grip for their T2i and don't want to pay for the over-priced Canon brand, which I doubt offers anything more than this.

My Neewer grip for Canon Rebel T3i
I did so much research on third party grips before buying, review after review, and video after video but I finally decided to get the Neewer grip. First of all, don't buy the OEM canon battery grip if you're using a rebel, it cost $100+ and it's still plastic. Unless you own a high end crop sensor camera (7d, 70d) that has a magnesium alloy body then go for the OEM grips, but all rebel camera's have a plastic body construction so you'll just be wasting a lot of money buying the canon version of this battery grip. Now on to the Neewer battery grip itself, it's really sturdy! The second I unboxed it, and picked it up I felt that it wasn't cheap, and my god was I happy because my mindset was for $30 it'll probably be really cheap plastic, but this thing feels solid in the hands. After a two minute installation the Neewer grip was on my camera, and looked awesome. The vertical button of the grip works great, it'll shoot even if you only have one battery in the grip itself, the wheel works as described, but man now my camera has some real weight, and just feels awesome in the hand. Do yourself and buy this.

Works exaclty as it should at a fraction of the price of the Canon model
This product does exactly what it claims to do. It's a much less expensive option than the canon brand, & it is virtually identical in quality & functionality. Attaching it is a snap, the construction is solid, & the grip is very comfortable. It has a lot of the same buttons as the camera body, positioned conveniently so if you are taking vertical shots you're able to access them quicker & easier than on the camera itself. The side-loading tray is really great, because in the past if I had the camera on a tripod I had to remove it (& the quick release plate) just to change the battery. I use my T3i mainly for videography, which burns though batteries pretty fast, & it would take me a minute or two to change out, which disrupted my shooting & forced me to reposition & refocus my shots. Now I can leave it on the tripod & quickly pop the battery tray out & reload. It also holds 6 AA's if you run out of camera batteries. All in all, very worth the money. I've recommended this to all my friends who shoot video & stills. I can't stress enough what a great deal this is.

works as advertised, quick ship, good transaction
Summary: viable off-brand alternative Relevant experience: 4+ years using EOS line; 24+ years using SLRs; previous use of off-brand grip for XTi and motor grips for other SLRs This grip performs exactly per the specification. It fits snugly against the camera body with no wiggling. The battery door closes tightly and securely. All buttons perform their assigned functions. I consider this a very acceptable alternative to the far more expensive canon part; no cons whatsoever. Another grip I purchased (similar model for an XTi from a different off-brand manufacturer) developed some cracking and shifting of the vinyl grip, but even that is minor in the big scheme of things... time will tell how this product performs, but I expect it should be stable for several years. Based on this product's build quality, I would definitely consider purchasing other products from this manufacturer. An added bonus for those photographers with large hands: this grip will likely help you since it increases your contact surface area quite a bit. I used to be able to put three fingers on one side of the tT2i, and now i can put all four on. 2012-Feb-28 followup. I am still using this, still completely satisfied with it. The electronics work fine, and it is still physically reliable. The vinyl hasn't cracked, and it looks much the same as it did nearly two years ago when I bought it. Great product. 2012-Sep-24 followup. I modded the battery door a bit to allow the AC adapter's power cord to pass through it for mounting the fake battery in the battery bay. It works in either position just fine. Still no issues with the grip -- entirely satisfied after > 15,000 shots and lots of handling.

Double your battery capacity !!!
I'm really happy with this product! I was using a Canon EOS 700D before and the battery grip that came with it stopped working after a while. I decided to get this one as a replacement and it works great! It's very easy to install and use and it makes my camera feel a lot more sturdy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
