Helps break up tough roots
I have “nut grass” growing in my yard. I can’t use chemicals to get rid of it due to birds and ducks that frequent my yard to eat. I remove it by pulling it out by the roots but this is really tough to get out. This terrific trowel breaks right through the roots and I can pull it out. I have arthritis in my hands so it’s still a bit of a struggle but nothing else I have tried has worked like this.

a great tool
The sharp point makes it useful for digging up weeds, especially those with tap roots. Also good for removing plants from cell packs. I find myself using this tool every time I garden. Not sure what the long organs string is for.

Nice size for working in a small garden. Seems sturdy and well designed.

Heavy duty.
I'm back into gardening after a years long break. I've broken two hand trowels in this past year. This trowel isn't going to break easily, it's a solid piece of steel from tip to butt. The orange string wrap around the handle will wear out and fall off long before the trowel is damaged or wears out.I like the shape of the tool. It's long and narrow, useful for digging smaller holes into the ground. Perfect for punching holes through cardboard mulch, and/or landscaping fabric. It should be just as good for digging those holes into compacted or rocky ground.Another reviewer mentioned that his is rusting. I hope to prevent that by cleaning the tool after every use, and storing it in the garden shed.

Actually pretty handy. I like it
I like the weight and size. It's carbon steel, so unlike stainless it'll rust. I wiped the dirt off and gave it a light coat of veg oil.As others mentioned the end of the handle is a tad sharp (looks like it was cut on a shear, then bent to shape). Instead of sanding the end, I took a piece of 3/4 dowel whittled down one end to fit inside the handle and epoxied in place. I simply melted the knot on the para cord wrap to keep it from coming untied. It's a cheaply made, stamped steel tool that needs some attention, but works for what I want.If not for the handle, I'd have given it a 5 star

option: use a rubber chair leg tip to cover the bare metal handle
The narrow shape is good for digging up weeds. A few other reviewers mentioned that the handle end of the tool is bare metal, so a bit rough or sharp. Suggestion: to cover the end of mine, I unwrapped a bit of the rope, then tucked the rope inside the hollow handle, then covered the end with a 3/4" chair leg tip (The kind of rubber cover that goes over the end of cane, or chair legs. You buy one at a local hardware store, or get a set of 4 from Amazon: "SoftTouch Rubber Leg Tip - (4 pieces), 3/4", Black" , https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004670XF0

Nice size
The tip bent the first week. I loved the size, but expected it to be stronger.

Heavy duty and does the job
I like the narrow width of the spade. But I think it would be better to have the tip bluntedback to where it is about 1" wide. This to make it easier to transplant seedlings. The sharp tip goes much deeper than needed and is a little awkward. All that being said. I still use this spade more than any other.
